48.0. "Basic equipment for the Naturist" by CADSE::WONG (Le Chinois Fou) Thu Apr 28 1988 00:25

    Let's reserve this topic for listing things that a naturist, new
    or old, should have as basic equipment.

    The World Guide to Nude Beaches and Recreation has already been
    mentioned.

    There is also the ASA Park Guide, which lists nudist parks,
    campgrounds, and resorts around the country. I believe that this
    is updated yearly.

How about a huge beach-type towel and plenty of suntan lotion! And sunglasses.
I don't enjoy the sun very much while squinting...makes for big "crow's feet"!

Avon (yes the cosmetic company) had a small box (with a hefty string attached)
[don't know how else to describe it] that is waterproof that I carry along.
Handy for carrying $$ and keys. You definitely don't want to get locked out
of your vehicle!  ;-)

48.3FUN IN THE SUN!BLASE::LASESECThu Apr 28 1988 19:1911
    Sunblock is a definate PLUSS in our book! Unless you are the type
    that likes come prepared. Meaning a few tanning sessions before
    your first time out! Some people don't believe in them but I have
    tried them and got nothing but great results.

    We also like to bring lots of fun things to do such as vollyball
    and frisbee. And thats about all we need to have some fun in the
    sun!

    A & S express!

48.4For every system there's a BUG!ATEAM::JWILSONFri Apr 29 1988 13:5815
    And DON'T forget the Insect Repellent. I personally prefer Cutter's
    Deep Woods Formula, but some people swear by Avon's "Skin So Soft!"
    (No, that wasn't another of my memory lapses - It Works!)

    I also like to use a personal-sized raft that is transparent on
    top, and reflects the rays of the sun. That way you get a good
    all-over tan.

    And remember when going into the woods - "What goes in must come
    out." So bring a bag suitable for hauling back any non-biodegradable
    waste.

    Enjoy!

48.6Don't Forget a Wrist Wallet!HPSTEK::SHERMANSun Nov 13 1988 13:3819
    You Need a Wrist Wallet:

    The business of being locked out of the car is a constant threat
    to my comfort, too! While at Atika I purchased a wrist wallet,
    and the first item in it was my spare key. Then I added a few quarters
    (for cokes), then I added meal tickets. The wrist-wallet was getting
    thicker and harder to bend around the wrist. But it still had the
    key safely inside. I then added my name add cottage number just
    in case I managed to lose the wrist-wallet.

    Neat way to indicate your point of view in the OP* Beach situation.

    * OP= those who OP for clothing in the so-called clothing optional
    area.

48.7A fine mist ....CURIE::PROGRAM_TEMPTue Aug 08 1989 19:2210
    I discovered a great little 'luxury' last summer and now include it
    any time I go to the beach... a plastic plant mister!! I fill it with
    tap water (and bring along some bottled Evian as backup).

    It sprays a fine mist of fresh water, and feels wonderful on the skin
    after being in salt water for the day. The trick is to have someone
    else do the spraying -- that's the luxury! Its really a sensous
    feeling!

Re: .6

Now, that's one I haven't used since moving from California - it doesn't seem to
get too hot in New England to require personal misting. Yes, it sure is a great
feeling - maybe I should go find one.

    I always take a wet washcloth, put it in a baggie and throw
    it in the cooler.

    Great for wiping a grimy, salty face and hands during the day

    A cool-down trick I learned from a Jazzercise instructor is to use a
    frozen washcloth. Take a couple of clean damp washcloths and stick them
    in the freezer overnight. They stay nice and cool till you need them.
