Not related to the base note, but anyways:
Are there any legal ramifications if I, for example, put non-DD
coffee into a cup clearly marked DD? Or vice versa?

| I can't think of any - as long as you did it yourself. If a store tried to
sell you non-DD coffee in a DD cup (now get your mind out of the gutter!), that
would be something else. Consider that CocaCola got Howard Johnson to make
sure that customers knew they were getting "HoJo Cola" when they asked for
"a Coke".
