874.0. "Wild Cat" by DPDMAI::HUDDLESTON (If it is to be, it's up to me) Tue Apr 11 1995 15:28

My newest cat Angel is driving me nuts in the morning. We've had a
touch of cold weather here, and I guess its what I call the "winter
wildy's". How can I stop him from getting up at 4am and running thru
the apartment over and over again. He's a doll, and I love him. But
    this is driving me nuts!

I've tried closing the bedroom door, but he just sits there and
    pitifully crys.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

I had the same type of problem with one of our cats. She would jump up
at my door knob, which ALWAYS woke me. I didn't give into her cries, and
eventually she figured out that it wasn't going to do anything for her, so she
stopped. Both of the cats now wait until they hear my alrm go off, and one will
cry until I open my door. I can live with that as the cry is faint from her,
and it only lasts for about 10 seconds. (the amount of time it takes me to get
out of bed and put my robe on)

Tucker her out with games before bedtime. Leave a little dry
food in her dish overnight. If all else fails, leave the vacuum
cleaner hose (no need for the machine) by the bed and rattle it
    when necessary :-)

Hadn't thought about the vacuum hose. That would probably work. He
plays all the time, and craves attention. I leave dry food out at
night for him and the girls, but I've never seen him eat anything but
wet food. Maybe I'll leave a small amount out at night.

    Thanks

    Don't discount the moon.

T was going bananas this week. She wouldn't even let me make the bed
yesterday when I was changing my sheets (of course she NEVER misses the
opportunity to play in the CLEAN sheets when it's sheet changing time)
and she only does this to MY sheets...not either child. It makes
changing sheets less of a chore, although it sure takes a whole lot
    longer.

T has also taken to the running full steam ahead and bouncing off the
walls this week as well; and all the while yelling and screaming and
whooping and hollering. Just having one helluva time for herself. Not
bad for a 14 year old lady! Unfortunately, she likes doing this when
    the house is at it's quietest...between 2 and 4 a.m.!!!!!! Sometimes I
    just wanna pop her! :)

I have found that my cats generally lose all sanity during the
    different phases of the moon...FWIW...
