807.0. "Cat Jewelry for the Human Pet" by MKOTS1::COOPER () Thu Sep 29 1994 16:06

I checked keywords to see if this subject was in here and I didn't find
anything on it. If you know there is a place for it kindly move this
    over and let me know.

This has to do with the fact that another feliner and I went to lunch
today and we found some cat jewelry for the human pets to wear.

I bought a broach with a mother cat carrying a kitten in her mouth and
the whole things moves. It is so cute and they had other items but
nothing that made me go bonkers. The place is fashion bug and they did
have the pin in various types of metals.

There is a barette (sp) that has cats on it and my vet told me where
she got it but I have yet to find anything like it.

There are the usual cat jewelry items, but I was wondering if anybody
had any they thought was unique. Recently I have been given a
    truckload of cat related jewelry.

I have the one with the cat and fishbowl, cloisone (sp) cat pins and
earings. Though one of my friends swears she can find the Beatrix
Potter animals. They were in Disney and didn't find any Figaro
earings though tinker bell was all over the place.

I noticed the Green Mountain Mercantile catalog (Vermont) had a couple
of cute cat items - one was a barrette for hair, the other was a pin I
think. I believe the barrette was made out of wood. (I find myself
noticing these things now that I'm growing my hair out!)

Lately there seems to be a fair amount of cat related jewelry showing
up in the museum catalogs (e.g., Boston Museum of Fine Arts,
Metropolitan Museum of Art). Last Christmas I gave Sandy several
pieces of cat jewelry (setting a dangerous precendent...). There's
also an excellent jeweler in the Pacific Northwest (Washington or
Oregon, I don't remember - he advertises in The New Yorker, one of
those small 2"*2" ads towards the back) named Roger Nichols. His
stuff is superb albeit a bit pricey.

I have two pieces of cat jewelry that I absolutely love.

One is a beautiful gold necklace that my husband gave me for christmas
a few years ago. It's a siamese looking cat that's just laying down as
if it's front paw and tail are hanging over the edge of a shelf or
    something. very pretty.

The other one is a cute pin that I get comments on ALL the time. When
you first look at it, it looks like it's a cat looking into a mirror.
But when you get closer, you realize that it's a cat looking into a
toilet bowl! It's REALLY funny! (-:

I just recently got a catalog from Cats Cats and More Cats. The things
that are in here are great.. Prices aren't to bad either. I got myself
a nice cat pin that I think is made out of copper and I picked up a
tote bag that has cats on the front with the saying, " One Can Never
Have Too Many Cat" and I picked myself up the 1995 cat desk calendar
that has a picture of different cats for each day...

I saw the pins in Fashion bug. They are cute!!

If you happen to be near the Pheasant Lane Mall you may want to check
out the "Cat's Meow". It's a bull cart located on the lower level
(near the elevator). Last year the owner (Carolyn) had quite a bit
of cat jewelry - some really cute pins and earrings.

She also had a lot of other neat "cat stuff" for humans and cats!

I just got another cat pin this weekend. Actually, I won it at the cat
show in Connecticut. It's 6 cats all standing side by side, as if
they're standing on a ledge. Underneither the "ledge" all of their
tails are hanging, and the tails move! It's REALLY cute! (-:

807.8WOW I want moreMKOTS1::COOPERTue Oct 04 1994 08:5041
Yes please note the address' and phone numbers of some of these
catalogs. I cannot believe this happened but I decided to put the new
pin on my cashmere winter coat and wear it to church on Sunday. On the
way home the coat was in my arm, I walk back and forth to church, and
noticed that I had lost the pin.

Left a message with the office, hoping that it fell in there. I just
couldn't believe that I lost it after wearing it once.

I saw some of the things from the push cart in Pheasant Lane Mall and
they are cute. Also Lenox has some nice cat items, rather high in
price, but if you collect these kind of cats you don't have to many
    high vet bills with them.

I really would like that wooden barrette, that is something that I am
into, since I do have rather long hair.

Oh the other thing is that at Fashion Bug the other really neat idea
they had in a pin was a cat with a picture frame. I guess you would
place your felines photo in there. I would be weighed down with my
eight babies..... But if you think about this you can always just add
a piece of satin ribbon and place a photo of the feline and put it on
your Christmas Tree. Or you can give it to a friend and they can place
their favorite feline photo in it. I think with items like this you
can do alot of things. The other idea is to place it on a headband,
that has some thickness to it and show off your kitties that way.

Hey Christmas is on the way and what better way of showing the
feline"r"s society by wearing our pins, earings and necklaces.

Sounds like we have quite a number of people who like this idea, cats
are in........ My niece went to france this summer and brough me back
a cat potholder, very much like the ones we see here in the U.S., but
thought it very funny that she would bring that home.

.7 I really like that pin, can you find out were they got it??

    See you later

I have a peuter pin that has a cat laying down on the wall with
his paw hanging over the side. At the end of the paw is a tiny
little mouse that moves. It's adorable...

Hmmm...my house well lets just say that wherever there is NOT a
live furface you'll normally see something cat related. It could
be a cat tree, bed, toy, stuffed kitty, towels, rugs, windchime,
    pictures, knicknack, kitty afghan etc.....

Thanks, since my last day with the company is next Tuesday.....It is
    okay.

I also wanted to note and will also bring the information in tommorow
about the Lenox catalog I receive. It has a crystal clear and iced
cats with a matching pin that is made by Gorham. I will bring in the
description to better explain what I am talking about. Also they have
an adorable crystal cat ornament for $10.00, U.S. dollars, and I was
thinking of grabbing some of those for my cat loving friends.

    Thanks Dana

I'm not sure if I'm "allowed" to mention this so if not, just let me
    know and I'll delete.

My husband and I are beginning to make small Cat pins, magnets and
other Cat products. These can be custom painted to match your personal
cat friends. The pins/magnets are about 1 - 1.5" by 3/4" and come in
two different "poses". They could also be hanging earrings.
We also make Cat coasters which can, again, be painted to your
specifications (I have a set with each cat painted as one of my many cat
    pets from over the years).

For information, please give me a call at home - (603)424-6316.

Gee, I also make cat pins...along with other plastic jewelry. The
cats went over really well last year at the HLO fair, so I'll be making some
for this year as well! The fair in HLO this year is Dec. 1 and 2. I sell
my cats for $3 for 1 cat, $5 for a double cat pin, and $7 for a triple cat pin!

I mentioned in a previous note that I receive the Lenox Catalog and
they have a variety of items, but the three cat items that I thought
were purrrfect for feline fanciers and may give your spouses an idea
    for a gift period.

Crystal Cat. graceful shape of a cat in a crystal ornament from Gorham
    and it is imported Height 2 3/4 inches. cost $10.00 $2.00 s&h
    item#052407D

Prim and Proper- fluid feline grace is captured in a work of art that
combines the brilliant clarity of polished crystal with the luster of
frosted crystal ( I couldn't think of the word frosted yesterday and
especially when we had our first in Nashua, NH). Has the Lenox
trademark, imported, Height of the clear sculpture is 4 inches, the
frosted is not noted and is just sitting next to the clear one.

    Item # 061580D $76.00 for the pair plus $4.98 s&h

Prim and Proper pin. a Lenox design, but crafted by the silversmiths
of Gorham, this creation captures feline grace in sterling silver. One
cat is pure silver (it is the one lying down) The other is covered
with frosted 24 karat gold electroplate. Both dazzle the eye with
shimmering emerald-green cabochons. Imported, the size is not noted,
but guesstimating from the picture the pin is 1 1/2 tall. Item number
    070541D $76.00 plus 3.98 s&h. They have a toll free number 7x24 and
take credit cards, it is 800.233.1885 or fax 215.750.1670 also 7x24
I am sure you can request the catalog and they say that all orders
ordered by 12.2.94 will be guaranteed for Christmas delivery.

Oh for anyone who isn't aware of 7x24 it simply means that open seven
days a week twenty-four hours a day. Oh they do have a customer
service for questions and problems. 1.800.225.1779 EST, Mon. thru
Fri. 8:30 AM to 5:00 PM. They also include a gift card with each item
    ordered.

I am ordering Bunnies similar to the cats, and have already decided on
several of the cat ornaments. The other ones are beautiful, but they
do have sales and I think I will wait for one of them.

These pieces do become collectors items, so two birds with one stone is
    the way to go here.

    Have fun..

Elise,

If you can't make the fair at HLO, I work in MLO, and if anyone wanted, I
could always arrange to bring some pins in with me and meet them somewhere.
I've just started production for this year, so I don't have an inventory yet!
I'm also trying something new, but will only make a few, a kitty sitting on
a "braided rug", all made from friendly plastic. This is rather large, I
think it would be better as a Xmas tree ornament than a pin. I'm also going to
make some cat head earrings and see how they turn out!

.16 Laura I live in Nashua and my car is out of commision right now,
and my last day with Digital is Tuesday the 18th, maybe you can send me
mail directly and I can make arrangments to see some of these new
creations. They sound great and since I don't want to get anyone in
trouble I have some ideas for the feline creators out there for a
business venture. So I would like to keep in touch. I am going to
leave a message about how to reach me at my home in the intro to
feliners. I appreciate youre willingness to meet somewhere to check
    these out.

Linda, since Nashua isn't that far away I will come to the fair in
December, as mentioned before I leaving and I reside in MKO2 and would
have been a great chance to see your crafts. You too may be interested
    in my new venture.

Thanks for all of your input and sharing your cat crafts, they all
sound purrrfect for any time of the year.
