775.0. "Rainbow Bridge" by AYRPLN::VENTURA (Ecstasy beyond purrs...) Tue Jul 05 1994 10:02

I found this in the catalog for the show that I went to this weekend.
I thought everyone might enjoy it. I think it's beautiful!

Just this side of Heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here,
that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all
of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is
plenty of food and water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and
comfortable. All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to
health and vigor; those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and
strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times
    gone by.

The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing:
    they miss someone very special to them;
who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly
stops and looks into the distance. The bright eyes are intent; the
eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to break away from the group,
flying over the green grass. His legs carrying him faster and faster.
YOU have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally
meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again.
The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the
beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your
pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together ...

    Where're the tissues?

That truly is beautiful. I can't begin to imagine, after only having
my boys a few months, what life without them would be like. I adore
coming home to their "feed me" cries and their "it's time to play now"
looks and howls at 3:00 in the morning. I even adore the running and
tearing around that left a broken vase on the floor over the weekend!
    8-)!!!!

Yup, the tears are there... I hope this is true. I have so many that
I have lost and more to lose in the future. It will be nice to have
them all around me. How many hands will I have to pet, cuddle, hold,
fluff, play and touch my babies? I miss the ones that are gone and
dread the day I lose another one.

    What a beautiful thought...

775.7If anything can help, this image can...TAMARA::xiexie.zko.dec.com::snoverJo Ann, 381-0462Mon Jun 19 1995 14:2712
Jeffrey and I just lost Socrates (5-1/2 year old cat, youngest of our
three) to kidney failure. I had seen some references in here to meeting on
the other side of the rainbow bridge last week when I was delving in here
to find some words of wisdom on how other cats with this problem had fared.

I have tears in my eyes now, a lump in my throat, and an aching heart, but
I have to tell you that this is such a wonderful image of where my little
boy is and how we'll meet again one day.

Thanks to the person who posted this...

   JoAnn,

I'm sorry for your loss - I'll add Socrates to the SLM listing.

I was looking for something I saw in probably FELINE_V1 (which
I did search but finally gave up).

It was the enscription from a card that a vet gave one of his
grieving pet owners to help cope with the lose. I just found
this Rainbow Bridge which was beautiful but not what I was
looking for. If anybody has an idea how to find it or can
    	post it, I'd appreciate it.

    	Thanks,

    	Karen

    	(dir/title=poem,death,dead,loss,sympath and a few others
    	did not find it).

Try the search command, which will search the text inside the
    notes and replies. For example,

         search /notes=1.*-9999.* card

Be sure to use the * form and not just 1-9999, as the latter
will search only the beginning notes and not the replies.

After it finds the first note with card (or whatever) in it, you
can move on to subsequent notes that contain that word by just
    typing sea without any arguments.

If you want to search for a phrase, I think you use quotes, as:

        search /notes=1.*-9999.* "vet sent"
