645.0. "Info on Tonkinese?" by MKOTS1::CASE () Tue Nov 02 1993 16:10

    I will be getting a new, little Tonkinese kitten (female) in about 4
    weeks for my birthday. My honey put a deposit on her Saturday. She is
    presently 8 weeks old, and is a chocolate point Tonk. Rick said she is
    a creamy, off-white color with chocolate coloring on her ears, around
    her nose, and her paws.

    Can anyone give me pointers or any information on Tonkinese? I know
    only that they are a cross between a Siamese and Burmese, and friendly.

    Help!

645.1I've got a gorgeous Tonkinese!SNOC01::SKOOGTue Nov 02 1993 22:4127
    Gee I haven't been in this conference for a while but I couldn't resist
    this one!

    I have a burmese brown with seal point Tonkinese and she is 14.5 years
    old! She is so beautiful and gentle and graceful and aloof. She is
    also very quiet. Sasha does have a wonderful habit of coming in to the
    bathroom when she hears the shower being turned off, and waits for me
    to pick her up and give her rubbies! I started feeding her on chicken
    and soup mix (barley and other grains) and chicken livers and she and
    my other cats had beautiful coats! Now she is fed tinned chicken or
    beef in the morning and raw beef at night and a few munchies in between
    and she is still beautiful and shiny but with the white hairs of age
    coming in. She is entirely an indoor cat along with Cho Cho San my
    half Siamese (Siamese on the inside, black and white on the outside).
    I would have another Tonkinese anyday.

    Not any real factual information, just to let you know I LOVE mine!

    Cheers!

    have been trying for days to get an address for you, lots of
    complications......

    Eloise,

    	I recently went to a CFA cat show. I remember commenting to my
    husband how beautiful the Tonkinese were. I talked to one of the
    breeders, who said that they are very gentle and will 'talk' a bit
    like Siamese, but not as much as Siamese. They are quieter cats.
    	I am sure that you will enjoy and cherish her.

    Tonks are wonderful cats! They are a very active cat and like to
    "check everything out". They are a combination as you have stated and
    come in different colors such as platinum, champagne, and I can't
    remember all the colors. If you want more info you can call Eileen
    Fusci in Hollis NH. She is one of the founding breeders and is a
    member of TBA. I have this info at home and can get it if you wish.
