| I subscribed to the Tufts Newsletter several months ago. It is an eight
page three hole punched newsletter with lots of handy imformation in
it. I enjoy it a lot, but must admit, I haven't learned too much from
it that I hadn't already learned in this file! ;-)
But, some poor souls don;t have access to the information in here, and
the newsletter has lots of info about lots of topics. I will continue
to get it I think. I have them starting at Volume 1, number 1, 1993. I
think that makes them the first ones, right? ;-)
Here is just a sample of some of the things they've covered since I
started getting it.
Medicine:
Rabies: Why vaccinate your cat
Neutering
Anesthesia
Dental Care
Feeding your cat
Allergic Skin diseases
Behavior:
The Language of Cats
Cracking the cat litter code
The law and your cat
Fleas: The high jumpers
Vacations and cats
Scratching
Frontiers:
Pacemaker Implantation in cats
Year of the cat
Cat ownners: Who are we?
Then they have regular sections like this:
Pause for a reply: Answers mail questions
Consumer cat: Advertises new books and products
Fascinating tales: Short cat stories
The naming of cats: Stories sent in on how your cat was named.
A Curiosity: This is a cute section that is hard to explain. It
Explains strange facts about cats, or dispels myths, such as,
Violin strings are not and never were made out of cat
intestines. They usually are made from sheep, and should be
referred to simply as 'gut'.
The last issue had A thing called "Tufts' Tip". This one explains
How to get your cat into the carrier easier by standing the carrier
on end so the door is facing the ceiling, and lowering the cast in bt
the scruff, supporting the body with the other hand. I already do it
this way, but know many people who still just try to 'stuff' the cat in
and shut the door. I used to do this myself. Actually, I'm pretty lucky
with my crew. Two of them walk right in! 8-)
I hope this helps in making a decision on subscribing or not. If anyone
would like a copy of anything they see above, I'de be happy to copy it
and send it to you.
Later,
Yonee
