596.0. "Dorothy Stewart - kitty rescuer" by GOOEY::JUDY (That's Ms. Bitch to you!) Mon Aug 30 1993 13:38
Has anyone heard of a woman by the name of Dorothy Stewart?
She lives in Ayer and rescues cats/kittens and adopts them
out of her home. I met her this weekend at Rietta Ranch in
Hubbardston and her name was mentioned in an article about
Rietta in this Sunday's Telegram.
She had about a dozen kittens there. 5 of them she took from
someone else at the flea market that was trying to get rid of
them. The babies were only 4 weeks old! So Dorothy took them
and is going to bring them home and see if one of her nursing
mothers will nurse them too.
Her adoption fee (at the flea market anyway) was only $10.
With that the kittens have already been tested for Felv,
had their first set of shots, dewormed, defleaed and you get
a low cost spay certificate.
I, of course, shook her hand, played with some of the babies
and then whimpered when I had to walk away empty handed.
