479.0. "Paranormal Experiences with/about cats" by PROXY::HUTCHESON (the revolution will not be televised) Fri Jan 15 1993 15:14

In the old Feline file, someone recounted a paranormal experience
his wife had. She was in the hospital and so was unaware that the
family cat had passed away. But, apparently on the night of the
kitty's passing, she was lying in her hospital bed and had the
sensation of the cat jumping up on her bed.

My first paranormal experience occured when I rescued a hurt but
conscious kitty from the middle of a busy road. (I related this
incident in another note). As I carried the cat across the road
toward the owner's house, I saw (very distinctly, in my mind's
eye) what I would describe as a Cat Deva (god). It looked a lot
like the kitty I was rescuing, and was surounded by a supporting
cast of various kitties (kitty angels?). The deva looked at me
intently and said something to the effect that my deed was acknow-
leged and that I would be rewarded.

I sometimes hear a cat calling in distress...you know, that
plaintive cry that pulls at your heartstrings?

Well, I got out of my car the other night, and I swore I
heard a cat crying. Searched, but nothing...

Later my mom called me to chat, and she mentioned that their
friend Jack was downtown, and had heard a cat crying, but couldn't
    locate it....

    Weird.....

I remember when we first moved into an old house (over 100 years
old). I was on the bed with the cat and out of nowhere it's fur
stood on and and it jumped up hissing at absolutely nothing in the
corner of the bedroom. It ran underneath the bed and I was unable
to bring it out for a long time. That put shivers up my spine.
I know the cat must have sensed/seen a ghost...I still get weirded
    when I think of it.

    1. When my beloved Peakie died, under a flowering bush in the garden,
my daughter brought in the body and placed it in the basement. On
getting home from work I prepared the hole. In the closed basement,
as I bent over Peakie's body and placed a sprig of cat nip on the blanket
by his head, I felt a distinct and strong brush of wind against my face,
in just the way he would brush his head against my cheek in greeting.
It was a hot, windless day in a closed basement. No one had walked in
or out, and there hadn't been any breeze before or after.

I believe that Peakie was saying his last boodbye.

    2. Last summer I lost my even more beloved Miss Moffet. I have will
never really come to terms with not seeing her again, and still shed a
tear when I pass her favorite spot in the garden. A week ago my sister
found a starving kitty in Belmont, Mass., who looks so close to Miss
Moffet that it's spookey. She meaows the same, has the same splash of
orange tiger on the back of her front leg, the same markings. If it
weren't for the small ears and long tail I would really freak.
