391.0. "Beth is sick" by DSSDEV::DSSDEV::TAMIR (DECforms Roadie) Thu Sep 17 1992 19:04

Beth is sick.....I took her to the vet this morning cause I thought she
had a URI especially since I thought I'd heard her cough. Sure enough,
my baby has a raging respiratory infection and an ear ache. She had a
temp of 104.8. She's home now; Biff is maintaining a vigil at her
side. She's on Clavamox and I hope she gets better soon.

I wonder where she picked this up from....and who's gonna come down
    with it next!

Here's hoping that Beth has a speedy and complete recovery. Does
    scare you though, doesn't it?

    All the best,

Poor little Beth! She could have caught this from almost anywhere. It
could have come in on your shoes or maybe even through an open window.
I am not sure and have no reference handy, but some of these viruses
can live quite a while and be transferred. Don't worry, you will get
her through it! That Clavamox looks good enough to eat!!!

Well, poor little Beth still isn't her usual jovial self. She wants to sleep
alot and isn't really eating very well. This morning, Biff tried to wrestle
with her and she promptly informed him (with her right paw) that she did NOT
want to play. She's still running a temp and is still coughing. If she's not
improved tonight, I'll be bringing her back to the pediatrian tomorrow.

I know she could have caught it anywhere, but she's so little and so sweet,
I feel awful that she feels awful. She had lost a little weight as of
yesterday when we weighed her (only 1/4 lb), so I'm not too worried about
that. She's a very light eater anyway.

No more cute Beth stories for a while.......

Beth sounds a *lot* like my little one-eyed C.C. Whenever she
gets sick, and doesn't want to play, the whole house seems to
be much quieter and sadder. Kitty kisses for Beth - I'm sure
	she'll be her old self again soon.  She has a super Mommy :^}

391.10Lots of sick cats right nowTUNER::JENKINSFri Sep 18 1992 14:0617
Sorry that Beth is sick. Sounds like what seems to be raging on the
East Coast right now. Calici virus is taking its toll on the kitties.
Take extreme caution at the shows fellow exhibitors as the cats are
sneezing up a storm as of last weekend in Connecticut. My entire
litter and Mom is sick and in the hospital with it right now and the
adults seem to not get hit that hard. The adults seem to sneeze
alittle, favor their ears or shake their heads and if they start
limping then you definitely know you have Calici virus. Limping
syndrome is one of the symptoms of it. Isolate any cat you have that
has symptoms of this virus as it can go through your cats like
wildfire. Bleach and water will kill the germs and should be used
where ever possible. The most danger is to young kittens who have not
had all their shots yet. If it turns into a full blown URI they are
really miserable. I just ordered my nebulizer today and should receive
it tomorrow. Good luck with Beth and I hope she is feeling fine soon.

Beth feels better! When I got home this afternoon, she was up and
about. She seems to be a little more active, but just this second, she
had a bad coughing fit.....all over Biff. Guess I spoke too soon...
But at least she's up and about.

    Poor baby kitten...

I'll bet she is getting better. My recollection of human flu is that a
cough can persist well after everythng else is back in gear.

Poor little Beth....good thoughts coming her way. And beware Mary
it probably will spread through your whole house...it happens all
    the time at my house!!!

    Please keep us posted...

Beth feels MUCH better!! She spent last night (all night......)
playing and running around. She seems to be on the road to recovery.
And fortunately, no one else in the house seems to be showing any signs
of illness. I did hear Biff sneeze once but when I ran to him, he was
rolling around in fresh litter, so I assume he (like most of the floor)
had litter dust up his nose.

    Whew!

391.15BTW - THE FIRM does malpractice, tooEMASS::SKALTSISDebMon Sep 21 1992 03:187
    Mary,

I'm glad that Beth is feeling better. Please tell her that THE FIRM is
very distressed that the medication took so long to work, and that
her pediatrician will be hearing from them.

Oh, no! Beth's been wanting that Porche.......but since Beth adores
her "pediatrician", I think she's willing to overlook this one! I'm
just glad she's not procecuting me for shoving pills down her!

Uh, THE FIRM was working on a subpoena last night; and since it is Beth
suing, THE FIRM will ask for double normal damages (for loss of
    dignity).

Oh, ya? Well, what certain kitty, who's feeling MUCH better, woke me up in
the middle of the night by jumping on me and dropping a very wet mousie on
my face?? Talk about loss of dignity!!!! My motto is never sue the wallet
that feeds you (or pays your vet bills....). Perhaps Miss Elizabeth Tortellini
wishes to reconsider....

of hysterics when she told me about this this morning. =)

391.20Sorry Mary, you will have to find your own lawyer!EMASS::SKALTSISDebTue Sep 22 1992 07:135
How does that saying go? "To a cat's eye, all things belong to a cat".
The FIRM is sorry if you lost any dignity when Beth delivered her
present to you, but they will only sue on a cat's behalf.

Well, Beth doesn't have any eyes, but to her, all things belong to her.
She just loves the new mattress and sheets I bought her. And the nice
fresh-from-the-cleaner down comforter makes the best spot to nap.

I'll have My Cousin Vinny look into filing a countersuit....

    RE: your cousin Vinny

Uh, I'm not sure how much con$ideration your countersuit will get from
the Honorable and Lovely Pip S. Pussycat, Esq. (Judge, Jury and
    prosecuting attorney ).

Deb (who knows from living with THE FIRM that you can't beat them)
