293.0. "48 Hours segment of INCATS" by GRANPA::CCOLEMAN (Meow Angelo paints Hisstine Chapel) Thu May 21 1992 13:48

Did anyone watch "48 Hours" last night on CBS? They had a special on
people and their pets, and they had a small portion of the "INCATS" CFA
show that was at Madison Square Garden. Bascially, they focused on 2
cats -- a silver Maine Coon (I forget the breeders name, but she was
from Texas) and an orange persian named Indiana Jones. I found it
humorous, since P.A. has been hissing at judges -- when the judge took
out the maine coon, it spit and hissed at the judge! Now I don't feel
like the lone ranger! The maine coon did place in one ring -- not sure
which one; and of course, Indiana Jones got best cat in show. They did
show a sphynx, cornish rex, russian blue, and american shorthair. How
come they never focus on a minority breed? (Guess I'm just a tad bit
prejudice, as we all are with our breeds! ;^) )

Well, after announcing last week that this show was going to be on, I totally
missed recording it due to unforeseen circumstances. Does anyone in the
Marlboro area have the show on tape so that I can borrow it?

Thanks,
Jill

The Maine Coon is a minority breed out here!! ;') Actually, after
listening to a particularly obnoxious Coon breeder telling me that his
breed is known as the "gentle giants" when one of my cats was acting
up, I was glad to see his breed get this kind of NATIONAL EXPOSURE with
a cat that was acting up. Can't wait to see that breeder at the next
    show!! :') hehehehehe

The Coon got a couple of best of breeds, then won the best of breed for
the show, but didn't make any finals. The red persian was making
finals and was highest scoring cat in show.

Managed to catch a glimpse of Betty Cowles and one of her Birmans at
    the show.

C'mon -- I knew that Maine Coons had an attitude -- it's the KORATS
that are sweet and innocent, and NEVER EVER make a sound......NOT!

RIGHT Cheryl! Korats NEVER make a sound!! That's why I've got one named
PITA!! (-: She's sweet and innocent!!

And Turkish Angoras are too! That's why everyone's SO quiet whenever
a turkish angora is taken out of the cage!! (-: haha!

Either korats DO meow, or I do not know what my korat is or she learned
    it from me.

    (And MOST sweet, true!)
