| Yup, one of my cats has it. Happens once in a while and my vet also
thinks it's an allergy. He goes in to get a shot (I'm not sure what),
and in a day or two he's fine. It doesn't seem to bother him, but
he sure looks funny. My vet said he had to have the shot when it gets
bad, or it would start infecting his teeth. Oh well. I just keep my
eyes open and bring him in when it occurs.

| If it is rodent ulcer, ask your vet about a medication called
tribbisen(sp). Stitch used to get ugly flarups on his upper hind leg.
We started him out on shots but my vet recommended the trib. Once on
the medication he would break out less frequently. I'ts been two years
now since I've seen a sign of it.

| Holly had rodent ulcer a couple of years ago. I forget what she
was treated with, but it hasn't recurred since then.

| Tribrissan is the name of the medication. It is one of those
antibiotics that works on many different parts of the body.

| When my vet gave Stitch tribissan he had just come back from a
convention where the treatement of Rodent Ulcer was being discussed
along with the use of trib. I was asking questions about the
medication and he told me quite frankly "we don't know why trib works
on RU but it does". I opted to try it rather than the shots and am
glad that I did. Fingers crossed cuz so far it's gone - and the collegen
bump under the skin has almost disappeared as well.

| I just found my old note and thought I'd write a follow-up on this. I
really believe now my cats swollen mouth was an allergic reaction to
all the flea spray I had been spraying in the house. That particular
timeframe had been a really rough time at home with fleas. I just
couldn't seem to get rid of them and it seemed like I was spraying
constantly with some the spray I had gotten at the pet store (can't
remember the name of it offhand).
Anyways, this past summer/fall, I swore i was going to be right on top
of things from the beginning and I really made a point to bathe the
girls w/flea shampoo whenever I took them out and/or comb them
regularly. It made a difference. I only sprayed my house about 3
times between fall and winter and my cat never had another reaction. I
really believe her reaction was to my overdoing it the year before.
