    HI
So how many cat lovers are out there?
I've been seriously considering sending my cat's picture to a 1993
calendar. Are there any reasons why I shouldn't? Has any one tried this
before? The deadline is Feburary 1st. My cat is a doemestic, is it more
likely that they will pick purebreds?

Does any one know of a way to tell what mix a doemestic cat is?

    Thanx

                                                          JS

There is no way to tell what mix a domestic cat is. It could be
anything, or it could have come from more domestic mixed cats.

Also, the Cat-A-Day calendar seems to be mostly domestic cats with very
few purebreds so I would say go for it. :')

In this month's issue of "Dog Fancy" magazine there is an ad by a
food company who's doing a "1992 Poster".....and the rules are
simple...send 'em a photo with a little caption, and you MAY have your
pet's photo included in the poster....and the PRIZE for the
    winner--besides the photo on the poster---is a 1 week, all-expense paid
trip to any animal show in the U.S. that you want to attend...

Some of the already-there photos are mutt dogs and non-purebred cats.
One that really struck me was a Dachshund---caption was "Hold the
    mustard"

I'm entering my "Cookie" cat....with the caption "Oreo Cookie"

Here's the address for the Cat-a-Day Calendar entries:

	The 1993 Cat Calendar Contest
	Workman Publishing
	Grand Central Station
	P.O. Box 3927
	New York, NY 10163

Entries must be postmarked no later than February 1, 1992.

	Rules:

Without stapling, firmly attach a color glossy or matte finish
print or an envelope containing a 35mm color slide of your cat
to an 8 1/2"x11" piece of paper. The picture can be standard
snapshot size, but enlargements are preferred. Please do not
include humans in the photograph. (You may want to keep a
duplicate for yourself, as pictures cannot be returned.)

Write the cat's name, your name, address, and daytime telephone
number on a lable and attach it to the back of each photo. (Do
not write directly on the photo.) On the paper, type or print
the same information, adding your cat's age and breed and a
sentence or two telling why you like your cat so much or describing
the special adventures it has had.

If you wish to enter more than one cat, or more than one picture
of the same cat, please write your information on each one and
include them in a single envelope. Send letters and photos flat
	without folding them.

	Judging:

Cat photos will be judged for their ability to set the tone for
the day. Mood studies, beautiful portraits, and action shots
depicting great bravery, athletic prowess and the quite unusual
	will be considered.

Judges will include members of the Workman Publishing Company
staff. _Winners only will be notified by mail no later than
	September 15, 1992._ (emphasis theirs).

that she wanted and they made the calendar. I don't
know any other details as I haven't written to them
myself but if anyone else is interested, here's the
    	address:

The calendars are $25 plus shipping and handling. They
also do personalizing (anniversaries, birthdays etc) for
    	extra fees.
