33.1house for sale or lease (pets welcome!)USHS05::VASAKSugar MagnoliaFri Dec 13 1991 17:5229

For Sale or Lease (Pets OK!):

Lovely house in rural Ashby, Massachusetts. Convenient drive to Littleton,
Tewksbury, Nashua, or Marlboro in an exquisite country setting with a view that
must be seen!

2 acres of land, beautifully landscaped. House has four bedrooms or 3+family
room, two working fireplaces, cabinet kitchen, lots and lots of windows
including a floor-to-ceiling solarium in the living room, formal diningroom and
living room with oak hardwood floors, plenty of closet space, 1 full bath plus
a half bath/laundry, and a HUGE SAUNA! Oil heat, large septic, high quality
well water, and PRIVACY in a charming smalltown setting.

Priced to sell quickly at $105,000 - a full $13,500 below fair market value.
(I've moved and I no longer want two mortgages! Three years ago, this house was
on the market for $179,900 - you'll never get a better deal on a nicer home.)

Will also consider lease at $900/mo or lease/purchase agreement.

For a showing or more information, call Claire Lavin (my broker) at Charron
Real Estate, (508) 345-4436.

Mods, if this should go in another topic, feel free to move it.

For Christmas, my sister gave my cats a bag of Coski's Choice
Tuna Crunch Cat Treats. I tried to give them some of this last
year and they looked at me as if I was trying to poison them.
So, I'll give away this bag to anyone in ZKO who's interested.
Fwiw, the treats look like little cat potato chips, and the bag
states that they're 'all natural - no preservatives'. My office
is at ZKO3-3/T01, next to the Runge-Kutta Conference Room.

Also, I have the Cat-A-Day Calendar, and I hate the thought of
throwing away pics of pretty kitties just because the day has
passed. If anyone would like them, let me know and I'll mail
	them to you periodically.

The South County Shelter in San Martin, California is in dire need of
blankets and towels for the dogs that are kenneled there. The heating
units in the runs are not functioning properly right now, and until
they are fixed (next week hopefully), the dogs need more warm bedding
to nest in. Temps in our area have been as low as freezing in the last
    few days.

For more information please contact the South County Shelter. There
number is in the phone book.

Does anyone know if the characters done by Sandra Boynton are available
in cross stitch patterns? I'm looking for her grinning cat with a smug
smile and in his paw is string holding a heart shaped balloon.

I put a note in Threads but did not receive any responses. Also, I
have asked around in shops in southern NH and central Kentucky but
nobody knows if they've made patterns from Boynton's drawings. My
favorite shop (in Kentucky) said it would be a great idea.... Anyone
know if such a thing exists?

I suppose I could make my own, some day. :^) Thanks for any ideas,

Jeesh, a while back there was a place in Northboro (I saw it in the
Real Estate Classifieds) that was $385 plus utilities, and a small pet
was allowed. You might want to see if the note is still in there....
Since I'm in notes now, I don't know what the node was for adding the
Real Estate file, but I'm sure VTX has it listed.

I think the apartment was actually a small one bedroom or studio
chalet/house. So you wouldn't be in a complex.

33.34FOA Certificate for Spaying for SALEDEVIL1::CRAIGMon Jan 25 1993 10:2117
I have a certificate from Friends of Animals for one female cat
spaying. I would like to sell it for the price that I paid $38.00 as I
can't use it. It is good until July 93. I also have the list of
    participating vets.

We had a stray cat adopt us. I took her to the vets last week for shots and
to get her spayed. When they knocked her out and shaved her stomach they
discovered that she had a scar that indicated she had already been spayed.
Therefore I can not use the certificate. This weekend I found a good home
for the cat (I'm allergic to cats and didn't want her to live her life
    outside on my porch).

33.40Put em' in a Play Pen! :'}GAVEL::FALLONTue Mar 09 1993 12:1610
It depends in what way you need to confine a cat and the reason and
size. I have found that when I have babies, a full size childs play
pen works wonderfully. If the babies are small they won't be able to
crawl up the edges and get out. But, when they do get large enough t
do this, I Have a split sheet of plywood on the top. You can varnish
and seal it and then put a long piano hinge on the two pieces so you
can open it up to get to the kitties. you would also need a heavy
brick to hold this down. This little trick was told to me by another
breeder and it has worked well.

33.49Looking for 72 hour cat dishSX4GTO::BUTLERMon Jun 14 1993 20:4521
I'm looking to buy (or borrow for this weekend) a cat dish that runs on a
battery (I think). It has several different compartments that flip open at the
set time and under the bowl is a place to put in ice packs to keep the food
fresh.

I found it in *one* pet store selling for about $98.00, but just can't afford
to spend that much.

I'm in Northern California, but am willing to make a purchase from anywhere.

Or... if there is someone local that would allow me to borrow their's for this
weekend until I can save up to buy one would also be appreciated.

I can be reached at:

or sx4gto::butler

Laura Butler

Speaking of cat dishes. Has anyone seen (anywhere in their travels)
a free feeder type of cat feeder that is not made of plastic. I
have at least one cat with a plastic allergy so I want to stay away

33.5496 Hour 5 Meal and 48 Hour 2 Meal Timed FeedersDRUMS::FEHSKENSlen, Engineering Technical OfficeFri Jun 18 1993 11:1431
re .49 - the 72 hour cat dish: I found the following in a Hammacher
    Schlemmer catalog

TRAVELLER'S 5-MEAL PET FEEDER gives your pet the proper quantities
of food at regular feeding times, when you're away. Controlled by
its own 96-hour timer, the lid rotates its opening over each
11-ounce bowl, exposing portions at pre-set times. Two insulated
ice packs keep food fresh. Battery (included).
    	46325H.........$69.95

Two-Meal Feeder. As above but with a 48 hour timer. Two 16-ounce
    	food bowls.
    	46335H.........$54.95

From the picture, it looks like the timer works like those light timer
switches where you insert a little plastic pick into the rim of a
circular dial at the times you want the lights to go on/off. This
means you can set the times pretty much any way you want, you're not
stuck with the same time on each of four days.

For a catalog, call 1-800-283-9400. "Ask for catalog B92" (though I
just got this relatively recently). It's on page 63 of the catalog.
I've also seen this gadget in some airline's "in flight" gift catalogs.

To order, call 1-800-543-3366. They take Discover Card, MasterCard,
Visa, Diners Club, Carte Blanche and American Express.

Probably not in time for this weekend ...

				KITTY TEEPEE

Combination scratching post and hiding place. Made of heavy-duty
cardboard covered with carpeting (kind of a beige color).

Height -- 20"
Diameter at base -- 18"
Doorway -- 9" wide at bottom; 8.5" high

My cat pretty much ignores it because she's too big to get inside (she's
about 10 lbs. and she's fluffy). A small cat or a kitten might get a
charge out of it.

Paid $13; will sell for $8.

This is one of those boxes that contains strips of corrugated cardboard
packed tightly on its side so the cat can sharpen its claws. Dimensions
are 18"L x 5"W x 2"H. Sea green plastic; has cover. Can be treated with
catnip to entice brighter cats than mine (she never used it, but I'll
admit I did when I tried to show her how...).

Paid $6; will sell for $3.

I have about 1 1/2 bags of Iams Kitten Food that is not going to get
eaten. Melody is over a year old now, and I didn't feed most of it to
her anyhow since there wasn't any easy way to prevent JFCL, who being
an elderly kitty with kidney problems should not be eating such rich
hard-to-digest stuff, from eating it instead of her much-less-tasty
special easy-on-the-kidneys food. I'd like to get this stuff out of
the storeroom. Anybody want it? I live right near HLO (Hudson, MA)
and work in PKO (Parker St., Maynard, MA) so either of those places
would be a simple place for anyone who can use this kitten food to get
    it from me.

Somewhere in this file...I documented how to make a warm
shelter for outdoor cats, but I can't locate my original note!!
If I remember correctly the key was to line a box with styrofoam
(bottom/sides), lay down stray or hay, and then pieces of wool.
Cut out a hole for the entrance and stable or tape a piece of
cloth on top so the cat can still get in, but the cloth will
block some of the wind. The box should not be too big...because
you want the body warmth to stay in the box. It would be best
if the box could be placed either in a shed, under a porch, or
in a garage so it's not directly in the rain/snow/wind.

I personally think this would be warmer then a kitty condo because
there is rug on the outside of a condo...not normally inside!!

    Good luck..

I am looking to borrow a crate/cage that would be able to hold one cat &
sandbox comfortably for one night. I have 2 folding crates myself, but
the smaller one is still pretty heavy and very cumbersome to carry.

I am in the process of helping an elderly woman catch some abandoned
strays and bring them to the local shelter. My problem is that the
shelter is not open on weekends at all, only Monday - Friday and only
from 8:30 - 3:30. I work in Maynard and the shelter & cats are located
in Worc. We were able to get one kitty already on my day off.

If we can catch another cat on Sunday, this woman will be able to bring
it to the shelter on Monday am. So it's this 24 hour holding period that
I need the cage for. The cage & kitty will be right in the woman's
house and both will be well taken care of. I am willing to put a
deposit down to ensure the cage's safe return.

come in early before the hords of the general public. You get to see
the displays and get into the sales area in relative peace. You also
have access to the VIP lounge. These are $20 apiece if you buy them,
but I am offering 2 for 1, ($20 total). We usually invite our kitty
sitters to go with us each year, but this year they can't make it,
and we already had ordered the tickets,..so I hope someone else can
    enjoy them this time.

Hi, I know this is not Feline specific, but I know a lot of us
Feliners also garden, and I cannot post this in the garden file since
entry cannot be gained for the past month or so...but, I have
an extra copy of Organic Gardening's Country Calendar and Planning
Guide for 1997. I have been getting these for 10 years, nice book.
They accidently sent me 2 this time, and said not to rturn it, just
pass it along to a friend! So, that's what I am doing...
    It's free, I think I usually pay around $13.
It has a day by day calendar where you can fill in plenty of space.
Also has zone map, planting and spacing guide, design aids, garden
plotter, info about companion planting, planting schedule, seed sowing
date recorder, germination info., guide for determining last planting
date, seed inventory sheet, garden activity schedule, fruit, veggie,
flower and herb logs, harvest guide, storage requirements for veggies
and fruits, and a pantry record. All kinds of neat info.
I am in LKG, and will pass book on to you if you ask....
It will be a great aid for the coming season..spring is coming, yes!

FREE!!!
	1 self-feeder
	2 automatic waterers

All three of of these units are your basic plastic... The waterers
hold about 2 quarts of water. The feeder holds the equivalent amount
of dry food. The feeder and one of the waterers are a 'matched set' -
that is, they both have the Friskies logo on them. The Friskies
waterer could be turned into a feeder, since the there is a separate
water container that goes inside the outer plastic shell.

I'll bring 'em to LKG, or you can come get 'em at my house in
Leominster. If I don't have a taker by the end of the month, they're
going in the dumpster. My pusses no longer dine out of plastic, and
can't be free-fed (much as Hannah wants free choice, Simon-the-Whale
would become Simon-the-Zeppelin if he had free choice)

Kathy...if nobody is interested in them...please consider giving
them to the Pat Brody Shelter for Cats in Lunenburg. I know they
use the water feeders ALOT in the summer for the outdoor area.

It's better then throwing them in the dumpster!!!

This is a freebie. An acquaintence is getting rid of some cages.
They're like cat show cages only they're 6ft long and have bottom
trays. If you're interested in obtaining one of these cages, let
me know and I'll put you in contact with the owner.

Jan (who wasn't give a ton of information on these cages to pass on)
