| Here's a raffle you can feel good about losing:
The Havana Brown Fanciers, a CFA affiliated club devoted to spreading
the good news about the Havana Brown breed, is holding a raffle to
benefit the CFA Animal Relief Fund. After ticket printing and prize
payouts expenses, every $ will go to this fund specially earmarked for
feline victims of the midwest floods and the Southern California
fires.
First prize is a needlepoint pillow:
a limited edition hand-painted design on #14 canvas of a stylized
cat with three kittens in off-white with aqua and light blue bows
and flower tufts on a soft gold wool background. The kitties are
bordered with gray mice and tiny brown footprints. The needlework
is done in basketweave in rayon, cotton, linen, and wool yarns.
The design is inserted in brown velvet with pinched corners and
bordered with a custom rope braid of gray and gold shiny and brown
chenile cording with matching colors in the needlepoint.
The pillow is 19 sq. in. and valued at $500.
Generally, I don't get excited about needlepoint, but this design is
very attractive, not to mention cute with kitties on it.
Second prize is $25.00
Tickets are $2.00 each. There's no official deal for buying in bulk,
but for FELINERs who buy 5 tickets, I'll sell them to you for $9 and
I'll put in the other dollar myself.
The drawing will be at our club's meeting in December or in February,
depending on how quickly we can sell tickets. Regardless of the
outcome, I'll post the raffle results here in this topic.
The pillow has been donated to the raffle by Ruth Paquet, a member of
HBF. The $25 will come from the raffle ticket sales.
So far we have printed only 250 tickets, but if there is enough demand
we could print up to 500. Another of our members prints the tickets
out on her home PC so all we have to pay for is the paper. We have
estimated that our expenses will be less than $50. So if we sell 250
tickets, the fund will get approximately $450, but if we sell 500, the
fund will get about $950. Maybe it's not much, but maybe a few kitties
can be helped with our club's contribution.
Interested FELINERs can mail me off-line at EASI::GEENEN. If you snail-
mail me money, I'll mail you the ticket(s). I'll even reimburse you
for the cost of your postage. If you win anything, I'll mail you
your prize.
I hope I'm being low-key enough, because I know how annoying it can be
when you get bombarded with raffles from co-workers, your neighbors kids,
or outside the supermarket, and I don't want to be a pest. I just want
to help those wet and singed little ones.
Thanks,
Carl
