Conference misery::abc_soaps

    I think I wrote a while back in the old soaps file how I thought for
    sure I had seen Swill from AMC in a restaurant.  I left before the
    waitress asked if he was.  (I'm too paranoid and excited to do anything
    about it)!  Then a couple of months ago on the cliffs overlooking the
    beach in Corona Del Mar, CA I could have sworn I saw the old Daisy
    Courtland from AMC.  Please tell me I'm not crazy!! It looked exactly
    like her, same hair and body size (a little chubby).  She was sitting
    in a chair reading, and had a high school or college age young girl
    with her.  (Daughter maybe?)  If anyone knows if Daisy IS IN FACT
    living out here in CA please let me know.  Maybe it was her!!!
    I've got to get up the guts to go up to these people I see!! I'm not
    weird am I?  That I think I keep seeing these people?!!  I wish I knew
    it was them and I'm not crazy!  I don't know what's worse -

    I've never met a soap star, Barbara. But you can bet that if I thought
    I saw SWill, I'd march right up to him & give him a good kick right in
    the fanny!!
    
    Seriously, I WOULD go up & say...."Are you Jillian Spencer, Daisy cort-
    landt on AMC?" If it is her she'd be flattered ( I would think ) and
    if it isn't....who cares? chances are you're not foing to run into this
    daisy look alike again....& she still may be flattered that YOU thought
    that SHE was a soap star!!
    
    In Californ I A, I wouldn't hesitate, so many stars live & visit there,
    but here (MASSACHUSETTS) I would be a bit more apprehensive about
    asking. but like I said, You're never going to see these people again,
    except for on TV!!

    Yes, I still tape monday's and fridays.  But I taped today because I
    wasn't able to watch during my vacation at all and I'm trying to get
    caught up!  Also, my husband will be gone for a while tonight, so I can
    watch it in peace!

    Just for you!!!  You know I tried this once before but for some reason

    I was working in woodfield mall in a jewelry store. Turns out Cord's
    family is a long time friend of the owners.  He came in with his sister
    to pick something up.  I about died!  He is very tall and good looking,
    he has that same accent and he was wearing cowboy boots.  I said
    Hi but that was all.  The owners didn't want us fawning and fainting
    over him so he would never come back!!!!  I admired from a SHORT
    distance!!!  Can you believe he walked around and NOBODY recognized
    him?

    RENEE-- Thanks soooo much. I've always thought he was cute!! In fact
    I'm going to try to go home for lunch and catch OLTL today. One thing I
    really like about his character is how he sticks by Tina no matter
    what ! Find me one ! hee hee. I'm glad to hear that he is tall because
    on the show you really can't tell because Bo, Clint etc. always seem
    taller. Anyway...THANKS AGAIN !!!!!!

    Hey everyone!  I saw Ruth Warwick who plays Pheobe also.  I forgot
    because I was in college at the time.  She came to Bradley University
    in Peoria and addressed us wild college kids!  She was very charming.
    I'm sure she didn't go to talk about AMC, I can't remember her topic. 
    However she answered all of our questions about AMC graciously and even
    gave us some sneak previews.  You'd think a bunch of college kids would
    be pretty bored with an older woman giving a lecture, but she was a
    hit. The hall was packed and everyone loved her.
    
    I'm still waiting to meet MAC!!!  HA HA!!!

    ROCKULA:
    
    General plot:
    
    The story is about a vampire, Ralph.  He's rather cute, has a baby
    face!  He is not your ordinary vampire as he doesn't run around biting
    people, he can't stand the site of blood!  Comic relief is provided by
    his mirror image.  His image is not connected to him.  When he looks in
    the mirror, his image talks to him and doesn't follow his movements.
    His image is rather horny and crude but pretty funny.  The image also
    gives him advice.
    
    Ralph is plagued by an unfilled legacy.  400 years ago he was in love
    with Mona (Dominique).  Ralph was suppose to bite her and make her a
    vampire but before he could bring himself to do it, Mona's boyfriend, a
    pirate found out about Ralph.  He attacked Ralph.  Ralph barely made it
    out a live and alas, Mona was killed by (ehh hem) a hambone!!!
    Did I mention that this pirate had a rhinestone peg leg?!!  Well,
    every 22 years since this tragic event, Ralph meets a reincarnated Mona
    and he is suppose to full his destiny (bite her).  If he does not do
    this she will be killed by a pirate with a rhinestone peg leg wielding
    a hambone!!  This is now the 14th time Ralph has had to endure this as
    he has not been able to bring himself to bite her.
    
    Mona is a rock singer.   She has long permed hair and she really does
    look good.  Much better than on GH.  She doesn't know anything about
    the legacy.  She almost hits Ralph with her car and she thinks he's
    cute.  Ralph decides the best thing to do is lock himself in his room
    and stay away from her.  Maybe she'll be spared.  Ralph's mom and his
    mirror image convince him that whether or not he goes for it, she will
    die in two weeks (on Halloween).
    
    Ralph decides the best way to attrack Mona is to set up his own rock
    band, he calls it Rockula.   It works and he and Mona start dating.
    Mona is somewhat seeing a guy, who you guessed it, will become the
    infamous pirate.
    
    I don't want to spoil the ending incase you decide to rent it!  
    Dom didn't do too bad.  She did make her faces occasionaly but with all
    the extra hair around her face she didn't look cross eyed.  She was
    also protrayed with half a brain in the show and she' s much more
    appealing than the wimp on GH.  I really freaked out on her singing! 
    She voice is considerably lower when she sings.  At first I didn't know
    if it was her but it was.  She's not too bad.  It really takes getting
    used to it being so deep though.  As for her dancing, has her hair all
    freaked out and was wearing a two piece thing and she was throwing all
    90 lbs of herself all over the place.  That little skit on GH didn't
    even come close to some of the pelvic swings this chick was doing!!!
    
    I think this movie was made for the same audience as those beach teeny-
    bopper movies.  It was rather corny, slapstick at times and a little
    stupid, but it brought a smile to my face and and outright giggle
    sometimes.    I don't want to tell you guys that Dom is the next Merle
    Streep or anything, however I felt that she is much better than her
    role on GH is letting her be.  I think it they shaped up her character
    she would be pretty good.

    I wanted to add that I found the mother irrating and most of the scenes
    with her in it, really stupid.
    
    Also, Mona wore basically nothing but skin tight black clothes and
    leather jacket.

    This guy called in and in order to "protect" him the DJ's called him
    "Buck".  Buck says he is getting married the first week in Sept to a
    girl named Debbie.   Well, he strayed of the righteous track and had an
    affair with her sister.  Turns out the sister is now pregnant.  Buck
    says that the sister is married and they might be able to "let the baby
    slide" (direct quote!!) but the husband "had his vein clipped, so ya
    know, he can't have any kids." (another direct quote!!!). 
    
    Buck gets this plan in his head but he needs cash.  He knows of a woman
    who has some cash so he SLEEPS with her for the money.  Turns out to be
    Debbie's stepmother!!  Deb's stepmother gets the money from Deb's
    Father!!!!  Buck tells the stepmom the money is to finance a future
    business deal.
    
    The plan is:  The sister is having a rocky marriage right now.  She
    will keep things rocky for a while and tell her husband she needs to go
    away and think things over.  She will, in fact, go away and have the
    baby.  This is why Buck needs the cash, so he can take care of her.
    
    In the meantime, Buck's younger cousin (18yrs) has gotten pregnant by a
    PRIEST in Indianapolis somewhere.  Debbie knows about the cousin.  Buck
    has convinced Debbie the best thing is to adopt the cousin's baby.
    
    Bottom line is Buck and Debbie are going to adopt Buck and Debbie's
    sister's kid!!!!!

    Renee- I thought my life was a soap until I read that.  That is
    something else.  That makes me think of a saying I heard years ago,
    "The city may be large, but the circle is small."  No kidding!

    I read in the Chicago sunday tribune, that Cord from OLTL used to hang
    out at woodfield all the time. And that Jackson from AMC used to work
    there. If only we would have known that then.......

    Did anyone go see James Kiberd (Trevor of AMC)at the Methuen Mall last
    October besides me?. He called on me during the question/answer session so
    I got to talk to him. I decided to start writing to him as I know fan
    mail is important to soap stars.  I sent him a tie for Christmas (if he
    can't wear the tie on the show he uses it to raise money for UNICEF so
    I figured it was a worthwhile thing to do). He sent a personal
    handwritten thank-you note with a drawing of a Christmas tree on it.
    Then in January he sent another personal hand-written note to tell me
    he was going to wear it on the show Feb. 7. He also sent a poleroid
    picture of himself wearing the tie. He actually did wear it on Feb 7
    and all through the day, evening, and night of the Marick ball.  Then a
    couple weeks ago I got another very nice personal hand-written letter
    from him in response to a letter I had written to him a week before
    that. He's really a sweetheart and he appreciates fan mail. The address

    well, today was the walkathon in MPLS for MS.  its co-sponsered by ABC
    daytime.  silly me, didn't see that sign till it was 2 late.  seems
    while i was eating my lunch at the 1/2way point - JILL LARSON (opal
    from AMC) was speaking about 100 yards from me. 
    
    i found out after the walk, while i was watching the news.  they showed
    her speaking.  she looks so different in real life, i doubt that i
    would have recognised her anyway.

    Last year I was inches from Walt Willey (Jackson Montgomery)!  He was
    just as good looking in person as on Soapland.  He was at a JC Penny
    doing a promo for them.  Apparently, he used to be a sales rep for JCP
    before he thought he would try out for a small part on AMC and low and
    behold the story on Jackson begins!!  He was asked if he had plans for
    his stay in Houston and he replied that he had a couple of friends here
    and would be staying with them.  Too bad!!  I got a 5x8 Glossy and he
    signed it for me!  What a hunk!
    
    Well, thats it for me a close encounters!
    

    I saw Walt Willey in Methuen,MA at the mall last year and I agree he
    looks great in person...in fact I think he looks better in person than
    he does on TV. He walked by inches away from me on his way into the
    mall where he was doing a promo for the mall. He was dressed all in
    black and looked very sexy. I could have reached out and given him a
    hug if I'd wanted to but I held myself back...SILLY ME. I didn't hang
    around for the autograph session. I'm not really one of his greatest
    fans. He's o.k. but my Honey is his co-worker James Kiberd (TREVOR).
    I've written to James several times and have received 3 letters from
    him and a poleroid picture of him wearing a tie I'd given him. He is
    good to his fans.

    
    	Well, there I was, waiting just outside the doors that lead into
    	Fanueil Hall.  You know, the building with all the mahhhhvelous
    	food....  I was standing there, people watching, as I waited for my 
    	friends.  Well, all of a sudden I see this woman with absolutely
    	big, beautiful blue eyes.  It took a second to register, but when I
        looked at the hunk of a man she was with, I realized it was Yasmin
        Bleeth, better known as Leeann on OLTL.  I nearly had a heart
    	attack.  The guy she was with was not an OLTLer, but he is a soap
    	hunk.  I just cant remember what soap he is on.  When my friends
    	finally came out, I told them who I saw.  One of them watches OLTL,
    	so she was excited too.  We followed them for a bit, looking for
    	something for her to sign, but of course, I had nothing.  And doncha
    	know, I had just taking my last picture...Anyway, we were behind
    	them for a while, and they were all over each other.  Every few feet
    	they had to stop to suck face.  Then again, if I was with him, I'd
    	probably do the same....%^}.  They were both dressed in jeans and a
    	t-shirt and if I hadn't been looking right at her when she walked out,
    	I never would have noticed her.  And that, is my close encounter
    	with a soap star.

    The "hunk" Yasmin was with was Ricky Paul Goldin from Another World
    he plays a character named Dean Frame..and he's a budding rock star.
    and he is "definite" a babe.....he one of the reasons I stay tuned!!

    Not positive but I think the actress who played Dottie Thorton on AMC
    is in the commercial for the upcoming new FOX show THE HEIGHTS.
