1083.0. "Sony D-70" by IJSAPL::LUITJES (Rende Luitjes) Wed Feb 10 1988 03:58

    I have taken a look in this conference several times already. I
    am very interrested in portable CD-players (the walkman-types).

    Quite a few of these machines have been discussed in this conference,
    but I haven't heard anything (as far as I can see) about the Sony D-70.
    Does anyone have information about this thing ??

    What I would like to know in general about portable CD-players,
    is how stable they are under "jumpy" conditions.

    	Greetings, Rende Luitjes

1083.1D-70 = D-7?QUARK::LIONELWe all live in a yellow subroutineWed Feb 10 1988 10:486
    I think (but am not certain) that the D-70 is known as the D-7
    in the US, and you'll see lots of comments on that. However, the
    D-7 is an obsolete model, superceded by the D-10 (D-100 elsewhere)
    that is much improved in many ways, including vibration resistance.

    I have the older Sony Model D-3 which is very susceptible to
    vibrations. So as long as you don't try to jog with it works find
    and the sound is just incredable. Its a nice way to pass the time
    on the NY subway system.

    I have a Sony D-77 (the D-7 with AM/FM...big deal).  Anyhow, it
    is also very susceptible to vibrations. A friend visiting here
    from Europe just bought a DT3 (which replaces the D-3, I guess).
    It was much better than my D-77 at withstanding vibrations. He
    also commented that it was priced at less than 1/2 of what he would
    have paid at home. I think it's time I replaced my D-77...

    Well, after all I bought the Technics SL-XP5, it is a VERY nice machine.
