1360.0. "Source For Imported UK Discs??" by AQUA::ROST (Canned ham, that's for me) Wed Oct 26 1988 00:04

What's a good source for CDs from the UK?? (Here in the US, that
    is).

I was talking to someone today who claims to have seen the following
CDs from Island, which I haven't seen anywhere:

John Martyn "Solid Air" and "One World"

Nick Drake "Five Leaves Left", "Bryter Layter" and "Pink Moon".

    ????????

I generally get my UK imports at either BCD or Rockit Records.
Newbury Comics also gets a fair number in.

In a few cases, I've had them hand-delivered direct from the
UK by special courier (hi, Andy!) :-)

.0 Where did "Pink Moon" come from, I've have the other two albums
for years. Didn't know there was a third.

    Re: .2

Brief rathole: "Pink Moon" was the last Nick Drake album released
before his death. Unlike the other two, it was not reissued on
Antilles in the late seventies (it was available on Island in the
early seventies here in the US).

In addition, a fourth album of outtakes called "Time of No Reply"
was released in 1986 on Carthage records. The three original LPs
plus four demo tracks were issued as a box called "Fruit Tree" by
Island in the UK in the late seventies; Carthage added the "Time
of No Reply" LP to the set and issued the box in the US in 1986.
    Not on CD though.
1360.4Here's a really good source for imported CD's...CIMNET::GRIFFITHThu Feb 09 1989 01:3525

Just in case anyone's interested in a good source for imported CD's,
here's the address for a place in Colorado that has a great selection
of imports at pretty reasonable prices. I've had only good experiences
    with them.

You may want to contact them and request their catalog of imported
CD's. Here's their address and number:

    Doubleplay Records
    9815 E. Colfax Avenue
    Aurora, CO 80010
    303/343-3343

They guarantee all CD's, take VISA, MASTERCARD, postal money orders,
or personal checks, and have no minimum order requirements. Not
    bad!

In any case, just thought I'd pass along a good source for imported
    CD's.
