335.0. "Quality of Simon & Garfunkel CDs" by DONNER::LEVETT () Sat Apr 26 1986 18:16

Being a Simon and Garfunkel fan, and a new cd owner, I'd like
to add some S&G to my very small collection of cds. I'd like to
know what the quality of the cds are, both S&G and Paul Simon solo
that I've seen in the stores. I really don't want to add these
if the sound quality from the masters are poor.
Can anybody help me out? Thanks!

I have the S&G CDs of the original albums that have been released so far
(SOUND OF SILENCE; BOOKENDS; BRIDGE OVER TROUBLED WATERS; PARSLEY, SAGE,
ROSEMARY, AND THYME). The sound quality is at least as good as the albums
that I have, without turntable rumble, clicks, pops, etc.

I have the S&G COLLECTION ,the sound quality can only be described
as abysmal.I have to play BROTHERS IN ARMS or FACE VALUES afterwards
to remind myself why I bought a CD player...

The individual discs are quite good, as Paul said in .1. There
is hiss, yes, but it sounds a lot better than a scratchy LP. The
    "collection" disc is indeed worthless.

Here's another vote against the "collection" disc. Whatever you
    do, don't try recording it!!

Has anyone see "Live in Central Park" yet? I've got the video, but
having the CD would make it all the better.
