344.0. "Retail outlets for used CDs" by ELUDOM::CLARK (Ward Clark) Thu May 01 1986 15:46

    I'm always on the lookout for CDs at bargain prices. I'd like to
    find find more places that buy and sell used CDs.

    Please use this topic to spread the word on used CD outlets.

    If you have any discs you want to sell, be sure to try the CDSWAP
    conference before selling them to a retail store. That way both
    buyer and seller win by eliminating the middle-person.

344.1Rockit Records - Nashua, NHELUDOM::CLARKWard ClarkThu May 01 1986 15:508
    Rockit Records (in Nashua on Daniel Webster Highway, south of Spit
    Brook Road) usually has a dozen or so used CDs in a rack at the
    checkout counter. I've bought several at $9.95 that have all been
    perfect.

    They buy discs for $5 cash or $6 credit against a purchase.

344.2Records on the Common - Townsend, MAELUDOM::CLARKWard ClarkThu May 01 1986 15:579
    Records on the Common just opened for business in Townsend, MA
    (on Rt. 119, across from the Common, of course). They sell both
    new and used LPs, cassettes, CDs and comic books.

    At the moment, their CD business is small (but growing). There
    aren't any used CDs for sale yet, but there will be as soon as
    sellers show up.

344.3BCDFREMEN::RYANTo CD or not CD...Thu May 01 1986 16:547
	Boston Compact Disk at Harvard Square sells used disks for $10
	out of shoeboxes on the counter. Not a whole lot, but there are
	more every time (just went to a third shoebox!). I've bought
	used disks by Meatloaf, Van Morrison, Billie Holiday, and Philip
	Glass.

344.4Good news from the (west) coast!!!ISWSW::DOOLITTANAndy Doolittle - Sunny CaliforniaThu May 01 1986 17:2015
    Streetlight Records in San Jose, CA sells used (and new) CD's.
    Haven't been there in a couple of weeks, but most were $9.95. They
    also buy used everything - and will trade. I picked up a used Journey
    disk last time - was perfect. BTW they guarantee disks AND used
    records.

    Maybe not worth flying to California, but if you're looking for
    an excuse...

    PS Trade-in policy more generous on CD to CD than LP to CD - I recently
    took a box of LP's in and got an offer of $67 trade on LP's, $55
    trade for CD or $50 cash. I managed to get out of there for ONLY
    an additional $25!!!

    re: BCD

    They've had some good stuff in their shoeboxes. They had the out-
    of-print US release of Joni Mitchell's COURT AND SPARK only about
    two weeks after I bought the import version (sob!). So far, though,
    anything I've been interested in I've already had. They do guarantee
    them, too.

    Rock'n'Mania also has some used CD's for ~$9-10 each. I haven't
    been there in a while, though, so I don't know the exact price
    (which may well vary from disc to disc) or how large the selection
    is.

    I can't say that I've been tempted to sell any of my CD's, though,
     except perhaps for the Glass SONGS OF LIQUID DAYS.

    Rockin' Mania on Rt 9 in Framingham also sells/buys/trades used
    CD's

    I do not know what their price structure is like, so far I have
    only bought new ones.
344.7Rock'n'Mania - big risk on used discsTLE::CLARKWard ClarkFri May 02 1986 23:515
    I passed up the used discs at Rock'n'Mania because the sales clerk
    told me that if I bought a defective used disc, it was my tough
    luck.
