354.0. "THE HOUSEMARTINS." by 45610::BAREFIELDA () Thu Feb 23 1989 16:31

    Hello all,

Is there anybody out there who knows where i can get the following
    records.

Flag day and Sheep 12"s, these where the Housemartins first singles
and i cant seem to find them anywhere.

If you have any clue where i can get them i would be very grateful
as it will complete my Housemartins record collection.

                    many thanks
                              Andrew barefield.
                              7781-4024.

Try phoning ADRIANS, a record store that advertise in the NME each
week, I can try abd get the number for tomorrow if you are interested.
They helped me ou with some Smiths stuff recently.

Re .1, Where is this record shop?? I've not seen it since we all
moved here last year. Is it any good??

    Adrians cost a fourtune!!!

    re. where to find Timebeat.

go down the slope from porchester sqaure, between next and TSB and
it's straight on about 30 yards.

it sells good T-shirts, programs, sheet music, badges as well as
many records, but there not filed properly and it's hard to get
    there when it's open

    Andrew,

If you're interested, pd Heaton/Cook have formed a new band
called "The Beautiful South." I've heard names, but no music.
I wonder if it's going to be Housemartinish? ????

                                   Paul (who's partially informed)

354.7An observation re. Adrians Records....AYOV28::DROBBYour prayers will break the sky in twoFri Feb 24 1989 16:1511
Graham, that may well be very useful (if indeed it's allowable).
I sent an order off to Adrians at the beginning of the week, and
for a double album and one 12" single, the postage due was two and
    a half quid! Frightening!!

Definately not the cheapest mob to buy from (their latest catalogue
lists The The's SWEET BIRD OF TRUTH CD single at eight notes - I
picked it up from Replay Records in Yorks. for two!).

Still, in their favour, they have a *helluva* lot of stuff that
    you can't get elsewhere. 8-(

Does anyone have a copy of the Housemartins book that was wdvertised
in the NME a few months ago? I read some good reviews for it, then
the adverts stopped appearing. I don't think that it is available
    in shops.

re.4 Do I turn right or left at the bottom of the slope? Right
on takes me across a road and into what looks like a housing estate.

354.10Ha ha, The HousemartinsAYOU08::BELLTue Sep 26 1989 14:5911

Nobody's been in here for a while. Doubt if anybody'll read thid this,
but, I think this band are crap. Every Housemartins song I've had the
misfortune of hearing sounds like a direct rip-off of The Smiths "I
Want The One I Can't Have".

Just thought you wouldn't like to know!

    Bell has his/her say.

I hate people like this who type in tons of crap just to get their
    name in pixels.

Which of their albums ( london 0 hull 4 or people who grinned
themselves to death) is better? Back in the early/mid 80's they had
a hit. something about "we're all here in the pub" or something like
that. :-) Does anyone know the song from my vague description?

I found the greatest hits one at HMV in Harvard Square last year. I think
you'd be hard pressed to find it out here in Colorado though...
