1225.0. "Yes UK Dates?" by NESBIT::FREW () Mon Jul 04 1994 20:23

Anyone know of YES tour dates for the UK. I've
seen the US tour list.

Which particular permutation of ex-Yes members are featured this time
around? And while we're on the subject, why ARE their lyrics such a
complete and utter load of bollocks? We're not talking strong imagery,
we're not talking anything that can be interpreted into any kind of
understandable logic. `Close to The Edge' was among the tapes I took on
holiday recently. Great music, but it struck me more than ever before
that the words on that album (amongst others of theirs) are total
gibberish. I'm trying to think of an example, but not surprisingly I
can't recall any of their random strings. Oh yes, here's one:

"We see the total mass retain"

    What?

Drugs Phil. Lots of drugs. I read an interview with Jon Anderson once,
and he described how he drew inspiration from the dreams he had. Dreams
of images such as gold pyramids drifting through cloudy star-scapes,
celestial sunrises of aztec gold, and other tosh. And the result:

"High suns stars streams through
 Awaken gentle mass touch"

"Rejoice forward out this feeling
 The white eagle soar
He go round and round until he pick it up again"

"Workings of man set to ply out historical life
Reregaining the flower of the fruit of his tree
 All awakening all rejoicing"

Balders

Thank you for that priceless example Balders, how on earth do you
remember them? I can certainly see how the images could be drawn from
drug experiences, but are we also to conclude that the drugs have
damaged that part of Jon Andersons brain that allows him to convey his
thoughts into intelligible language? I mean it's happened to Gary
Salisbury, perhaps it has happened to others (I don't think he's learned
how to `next unseen' yet so he probably won't read this).

He's a totally sad individual...try him, he can quote Yes lyrics for
hours on the phone at the drop of a hat...although at the moment you're
more likely to get 'puppy love' or' oh, the world is a jolly and happy
and shiny place, pully of puppy dogs and little kittens n things...'

Thanks guys for the reply! I go on a business trip, return to find my indulgence
for things past hitting me square in the face. Yip, the lyrics sure are weird,
but still good music. Anyway, still awaiting tour dates

"Stand and fight we do consider
Reminded of an inner pact between us
	 Seen as we go.."

DATES PLEASE!!!
