I see it's been moved to Kinross Airfield, 10 mins from Perth, 40 mins
from Edinburgh, and 1 hour from Glasgow !!!

Is it true that Kula Shaker, are heading the line-up ??

Not really into Kula Shaker too much, Their stuff sounds like the music
    on Mahabarat !!!!

I can't make up my mind about them...depends what mood I'm in. I can
imagine them being quite good live tho.

Who's the lead singer, Quentin Crisp or summit ???

He seems quite a cool bloke, watched an interview with him on telly.

A band that should never have been allowed to progress outside the 6th
form doors! Cod mysticism and a bit of Sanskrit thrown in for good
measure. I thought we left this b*ll*cks behind in the late 60'/early
    70's!!!

    				Stretch.

PS - Anyone hear the Riley + Lard parody? Bindi Bhajee and a Sag Aloo
    by Peela Tater.

unfortunately, it has recently been replaced by a dirge of dancers with
very little musical talent. Give me Kula Shaker anyday....

Any band that writes, sings and plays their own stuff is head and
shoulders above any dance troupe - no matter how good looking they are.

1377.13VYGER::HAMILTONSThe King of SchwingWed Mar 05 1997 20:057
I agree with you Stretch, Their music sounds too much like the sort of
stuff Boy Goerge was coming out with in 89-90, all that Generations of
Love and Hari Krishna-onion bahji stuff, I liked it then, but not now.

not hater exactly.... I think they brighten up the various programmes
and magazines they've appeared on/in, no end. however they have very
to show musically. I know they claim to write and sing there own stuff
but so far they're about as credible as millie vanilli or whatever
they were called - and likely to go the same way.

I doubt very much that anyone - least of all their record company - will
remember the name 'Spice Girls' in 2 years time, never mind what their
names were or which one they....

....never mind, I'm sure you get the picture ! On the other hand OCS
and KS will have released a couple more albums and should still be
    hitting the charts.

Scott, you can not be serious, surely ? or are your recollections of
Boy Georges music clouded by the same chemicals that caused his fall
    from grace %^)

1377.16VYGER::HAMILTONSThe King of SchwingWed Mar 05 1997 20:1518
    Well said.........

I think that they've just put some fun into the charts, I don't take
them seriously as a musical influence, but I could sit and watch them
    'til the cows come home.

As for their "women bahaving badly/ lad-ette" image, it's not too
    clever.

I mean there's only one gender who can behave badly and get away with
it !!!! After all, we've had centuries of practice !!!!!

Graham, I do not wish to incrimate myself or anyone else involved in my
illustrious past, but Boy George collaborated with many a fine
tune-maker of that special era in music under his More Protein record
label to come up with loads of good housey-housey music.

ps I haven't taken anything since the little, green elves chased me all
    the way home.

Oh yeah, he's not fallen from grace either, he is (allegedly) a much
    sought after club dj !!!

    I'm full of useless information, aren't I ???

Well, yes he's back now, but he wasn't to popular for a while was he ?
And as for the housey-housey music he was responsible for, that's best
left in the past where it belongs... bands with drums, guitars and good
tunes will never go out of fashion - all this manufactured stuff is
just a passing phase. Give it five years, then re-read this note -
there'll be no housey-housey music around (nobody will even remember
what it sounded like), ditto for jungle and techno, there'll just be
whatever the latest craze is and bands with drums, guitars and good
    tunes....

    G.
1377.20VYGER::HAMILTONSThe King of SchwingWed Mar 05 1997 20:3815
    I think yer right mate.

I suspect that you don't really know what house is ?

Is there house music about these days, I mean REAL house music ???

I could've sworn it finished years ago, but people will remember what
it sounded like, cause people bought the records. I think it's best
left in the past too, cause it brings back good memories. I s'pose
the same will happen with today's music in 10 years time.

As for jungle and and techno, they're just pish !

Boy George and Kula are the same? Uh?

K is a good album. Don't judge it by the singles. It may not be
original, but nor are Oasis and a host of others.

    Richard.

ps. And I think it sounds better now that Crispin has changed his
    trousers!

1377.29CHEFS::FIDDLER_MThe sense of being dulls my mindThu Mar 06 1997 19:1313
Maybe I ought to listen to K, I think I'd like to see them live.

Much as I hate to disagree with Graham, I don't really think that music
made with guitars has any more worth than music made with keyboards,
whether you want to call it Techno or Dance-oriented or whatever. Back
in 88 people were saying that the dance-music craze would vanish, but
it seems to still be around and have spawned some of the more
interesting developments of the last few years. Personally, I'd rather
listen to Tricky than Ocean Colour Scene.

Its all rock n roll, however its done.
