A few questions about the fest;

What time do the gates open on each day?
What time do the bands start playing?
Is there a meeting point?
How cheap/pricey is the beer?
Can you take your own beer, or does it have to be in those daft plastic
  buckets?

Any other advice/info?

50 quid for 2 days, I paid. Considering I saw well over 20 acts, spent about
24 hours there, and had one of the best weekends I've had for a while, I think
it was slightly better value than going to watch some crap in a local dive, and
pay for the privelege.
1313.10Glad you had a cool time!!!CHEFS::BARKERNThis town needs an enemaWed Aug 30 1995 21:2216
Not disputing that, if it's your cup of tea. Personally I think it's
all rather boring seeign a load of bank clerks, computer programmers
and school kids take too much gear and drink themselves stupid (but
don't tell their mums or their bosses at work or else they may tell
    them off!!!

I spent my weekend floating just off the coast of Cornwall on a bit of
fibreglass wrapped up in rubber. Much more fun, less pretentious and
all in all nicer than being in Reading when the onslaught of ZERO's
    turn up.

Best Regards for a happy life (what ever turns you on)

re .10

erm...you really have an attitude problem, you know. The quality of many of
the bands and comedians at this year's Reading is not disputed by those who
have any kind of musical whack, and I can't think of a better way to see so
many of them in such a short time. If 60k people want to listen to music, get
drunk, get stoned and laze around for a weekend, then I'm all for it. Once you
become employed, you don't immediately lose the right to listen to music or get
drunk. I've been a surfer all my life, and find that the people who spend all
their days surfing are bigger paracites than those at the festivals. In fact,
Reading festival was peppered with surfies, or people dressed up as surfies.

I believe a head/arse extraction operation may be called for, and it ain't
needed over here.

    RE .11 - .15

Woa, I'm upset I can tell you. I don't think!!!

I've never met an easier bunch of lemmings to wind up. This is getting
    no fun anymore.

Do you think that I really and truly give a toss about wether or not
you mob go to Reading, No. Do you think that I think that you give a
toss about what I do at the weekends? No.

My dress sense sucks. That's probably very true, I agree with you
most of the time but it stops my little willy from being exposed in
    public doesn't it.

The fact of the matter is that everyone thinks that their life is the
perfect way of life. (for their circumstances) I'm no different. I'm
just expressing my views and you are just expressing yours. That's
cool! My view is that this whole music festy thing is a million miles
away from the initial motivation for "inventing" festivals. Maybe I'm
an idealist but I'm not alone there.

Many of you are thinking "Nigel's only got a chip on his shoulder
because he had a bad experience in the industry!" Well you're probably
not wrong there! Again so what do you care, I don't expect you too.

My point is that if the cap fits then please wear it, you all seem to
have got defensive about the fact that you may/maynot bee cool at
festivals, I get defensive about not going to festivals...

WHO'S RIGHT. The answer is none of us. It's not an argument that can
be won or lost is it.

    >The quality of many of the bands and comedians at this year's Reading
is not disputed by those who have any kind of musical whack,

Is this a pop at my musical prowess?????

Don't talk about things you know nothing about!! When you have heard
my work or seen me play then I will take you seriously, until then I
will fob it off as a non comment! After all you may be shit at your
job might n't you!?! On the other hand you may be pretty good at it!!

The difference is the I would actively encourage you to come and listen
to me play, would you ask me to sit and watch you work all day? I
    think not!!!

re Niges effort a few back.

Well, so we're lemmings are we? Was it not you who slagged everyone off
for going to the festival? Nobody has said its cool to go to festivals.
Only yourself, the surf ninja, said it wasn't. Hey, you brought it up.
Chip our shoulders, nah. Chip on your shoulder? Nah, Harry Ramsdens
    more like.

Don't try to fool us with your crap attempts at a wind up. You tried
to treat us with a snooty contempt/indifference. Its just a shame that
you tried to then excuse your note with a "hahaha - I was only joking"
routine. Sorry but your original note was truer to yourself than
    anything else you have written.

Stand up and be counted Nigel, what has a lemming got to do with going
    to Reading anyway>>

As I've said before, musical taste is just that - as beauty is in the
eye of the beholder, so is music... leave Reading Festival saddo's
alone and hopefully they'll leave you..

Once again, I find the majority of the taste in music in
this file incomprehensible and as laughable as they find mine - but
    each to their own...

Nigel, I have to agree with Mr.Stratford on this one. I'm highly amused by the
way you managed to link the Reading festival being good, to your band being
crap! Excellent! "Monkhouse's comedy connection", or whatever it's called.
