1290.0. "Can anyone identify this MTV music?" by KERNEL::HOGGAND () Mon May 01 1995 23:23

    Hi,

For those of you who watch MTV Europe.....

Apart from the occassional song they play, MTV do a lot of little
excepts of music with video. One of these is a dance/trace-type piece
with a bloke saying something like "Listen to the sound of my voice.
Feel yourself relax deeper and deeper....". Does anyone knwo what this
    is?

    Dave.

PS: The new Finitribe album is out (and pretty good!).

If these two are connected then there's a track that sounds like this on
Finitribe's first album "An Unexpected Groovy Treat" - hypnotic sounding
voice including "but you must never touch, never, never..." etc. This is
Tele Savalas in some Bond movie, can't remember which one, but he
ran some allergy institute on top of a mountain that was eventually stormed
by Roger Moore and Topol (surreal or what?).

He was in "On Her Majesty's Secret Service" and the Bond was George
    Lazenby.

    I think.

Okay, so if we're on the subject of MTV ads, what's the music to the ad for that
European language thing (it's not on very often at the moment). Lyrics go
summat like;

"And when the summer comes, <mumble>, we could <mumble>, summertime,
summertime; <mumble>
We could go to (err...) Cardiff, we could go through rain"

It's quite an upbeat record, and sounds a tad like XTC (the vocalist anyway).

help...!

Ah, ah, it's on the tip of my tongue - "Driving Away From Home" possibly?
Can't remember the artist at all.
"...down the M62..." etc.

Keep trying! don't give up! I really want to know what it is, so I can go and
nick it from a record shop, or con one of my friends into buying it...

    Driving away from Home
    30 miles or more...

Wish I could remember who did it. Wasn't it from years ago? Had a
distinctive piano sound on the chorus.

I think the record the base noter is after is The Hypnotist by
Sisterlove - very good it is too.

Here's a much easier one - in this note, cos I've seen it on MTV, but am
without all TV at the moment.

Who sings "Are you strong enough to be my man?"?

The reason I'm interested is that the album containing this has been playing
continuously on a radio frequency here for at least 36 hours! (No, I only
check occasionally).

Ta,

grahame

I was watching MTV Saturday night and heard/saw a brilliant video.

Only problem was that I was large stoned/lagered and can't remember
    what it was.

It was on about 01:30 on the chill out zone and came on after an Orb
record which was pretty notch too, and before a record by somebody
called Planet Sun?? or something like that.

The video consisted of loads of black dots and lines and lasted for
    about 8 minutes.

    Any Ideas Anyone?

    Charley.

Standard unhelpful comment:

Do you not think that the amount of chemical stimulants in your system
had something to do with the fact that you found 8 minutes of black
dots and lines "brilliant"?

HTH

Guy

p.s. 8-)

p.p.s. wooooooowwwwww - loads of black lines and dots maaaaan. coooooolllll.
1290.14CHEFS::TRAFFICTue May 09 1995 13:438
    Possibly.

But on the other hand, there are people who think Bon Jovi and
Aerosmith etc. etc. videos brilliant without even being slightly faced.

No amount of chemicals could make me like THEM.

    Charley.

Are you sure you hadn't turned the TV off and were watching the
    static...?

    Saw it again on Saturday.

Just for the record the track is called "Rez" and it's by Underworld.
