In retrospect, there were some very good albums released this year. As a
friend noticed, you can now hear things like Blur, Portishead, Oasis etc. on TV
Jingles, such as Grandstand etc. This wider audience is expanding the market
and thus the popularity of "decent" music, and hopefully driving 2 Untalented
into an early grave somewhere in the middle of the Zeiderzee.

Wasn't Teenager of the year - Frank Black released this year too? If it was,
then it truly was a corking year. (and did I mention Watusi?)

    Gift or something similar?

Almost all of the 'best of's I saw had Massive Attack's latest in the Top 10.

Massive Attack made no 13 in the NME list.

Should I like Massive Attack? I have a vague image of bland soul type
noise, but maybe I am confusing them with someone else?

I think Oasis made the top 3 in every list I have seen so far. I just
picked up the new single in HMV (is that a chart return store?).

I'll muse on my list of the year tonight.

Hmmm, can't actually recall buying more than about 8 albums this year,
mainly due to coming to France in May and spending too much of the
'ard-earned on beer, I can feel a New Year's resolution coming on...

    re .1

Yes, as I've mentioned several times elsewhere in here Mr.
Black's finest hour so far was released this year ('bout Feb/march if I
recall) and is my chart-topper, a close second is a toss-up between
    "Dummy" and "his 'n' hers"...
