1070.0. "Looking for these tracks ..." by ESSB::SGREEN (Jambo) Wed Sep 23 1992 14:53

Please help ! A friend of mine is urgently trying to get hold of
the following tracks on LP or cassette :

James Last arrangement of 'Bye Bye Blues'

Mills Brothers 'Up the lazy River (on a Sunday afternoon)'
(not too sure if this is the correct title)

Seems she has phoned various local record stores, but they can't
find them in the catalogues or on computer.

If you know an LP title that may contain either of these tracks or
the name of a record store in UK that could help, can you post it
here or send me a mail - ESSB::SGREEN. I know they are old 'uns, but
you might have seen them in your grannies record collection.

    Thanks

(also posted in the JAZZ notes file)

You might try Virgin Records and/or HMV in Oxford Street.

They certainly have a database on computer, tho' whether it goes down
to track level I am not sure.

Also, if you ask in somewhere like Our Price, they have a thick (like 3
inches) catalogue, usually under the counter, which you can look at.

It is arranged by artist so it would not take more than a few minutes
to look up James Last and the Mills Bros to find if there is anything
out at the moment with those tracks on.

There is nothing like going to do it yourself - sometimes shop staff
can be less than helpful, I have found.

"Up the lazy river" - if by this you mean "cruising down the river, on
a Sunday afternoon, with one you love the stars above, waiting for the
moon....." etc. Then I know you can get this on the soundtrack for the
TV series "The Singing Detective". I know because I've got it but I
can't remember if it's the Mills Brothers who sing it.

  re: .4

I think the song goes something like this...."up a lazy river by the old
mill run"...something....something..."in the noon day sun". The Mills
Brothers did do this song. I have it buried somewhere in storage. I will
try to dig it out and put the correct info about it.
