1024.0. "The Declan McManus note" by UBOHUB::HOLLANDS_C () Fri May 22 1992 19:07

Why isn't there an Elvis Costello note? The man's obviously a genius
(despite what the music press say) He's alternately been described as
the next John Lennon (An insult as far as I'm concerned...) and Mr.
Miserable of rock. I personally think that his lyrics are the most
intelligent I've come across, but I'm SURE you'll all disagree...

I still haven't bought "Mighty Like A Rose". I've heard good and bad
reviews of it. What do you lot think?

I hear Tony Dallison may be appearing alongside Costello on his next
    album.

Elvis Costello is regarded by many as being one of the late
seventies/early eighties geniuses. His early stuff was such a good new
wave/ m o r. cross over and for me. and what's more, he writes bloody
    good songs!!!!

Let him dangle from Spike sticks in my mind.
I also have Declans da singing on a Joe Loss LP from a while back. That's not why
I bought it though, I like that sort of thing too.

Elvis Costello might have been a genius, but I reckon something went wrong
when he changed his name to Declan McManus and came over all "honest".

Has anyone heard "The Juliet Letters"?

This is a collaboration with the Brodsky Quartet, reputedly based on the
work of a ?priest in Verona who has taken it on himself to reply to letters
addressed to Juliet Capulet.
