As a slight follow on, Bruce Foxton has just picked up bass player slot
    with SLF.

The distinct lack of smileys means that you are not kidding? Is this
going to be the first (old) New Wave supergroup? Punk's answer to Asia?
They should get Charlie Harper in on vocals, only problem is, he looked
about 50 years old back then. :-)

879.3 time they called it a day !SCOAYR::AMOONEYThu Aug 01 1991 16:1427

SLF...one of the first bands I saw live, back in '79 at the Glasgow
Apollo and thought they were great.I saw them about nine times in concert
(ok ...they were pretty good live) including their farewell gig in '83.When
they reformed about 2 years ago,I went along to the Barrowlands to see
what they had to offer.....it was ok (even though there was no new
material),but felt that it was a case of "times change....and we
    change too".
When they decided to call it a day the first time round,Jake Burns
formed a band called The Big Wheel, and wrote some songs with Dolphin
Taylor and Bruce Foxton.I managed to see JB and TBW in Glasgow a couple
of times and enjoyed the music (still have a tape of the first gig...if
anyone is interested in a listen ?),even though most people were
shouting for Alt Ulster all night! They eventually released 3 singles (not
sure if an album was ever released),before he called it a day and reformed
    SLF.
My favourite SLF tunes were 'law and order'..(inflammable
Material) and 'back to front',but even though they were a good live
act,I felt they failed to produce this on vinyl (Hanx !...thought it
    was crap).
I think they are playing Barrowlands again in October, but I'll
give it a miss this time round.

    Andy.

Anybody heard/seen anything of this lot recently (tours etc?). I heard
they were playing one of the Heineken music festivals either this year
or last in Leeds? Bought their latest album (as far as I know anyway)
last week - Get A Life - it's soooooo good. Got lots of surprises on it,
for once the frontman sings on a few songs rather than screeching, so it's
worth listening to if you're into 'em.

    Chris.

Is Go For It really the best album? Personally, I'd have said Nobody's
Heroes. The best songs they have done should also include Tin Soldier &
    Piccadilly Circus.
