They were headlining the Mean Fiddler tent at Reading Festival
on Sunday. I was impressed....very tight and good music.
Wasn't too sure about the guy dancing around all the time but
it was interesting to watch! :-)

Anyone know where they come from, how many albums they've got
	out etc??

	Cheers,
	Emma

The Blue Aeroplanes are a Bristol band, with band members originating
    from around that Avon area.

As far as I know they've now got 3 albums out, none of which I can
remember the names of (a new one just released). I've only heard the
second album and I can definitely recommend it, especially the track
    "Anti Pretty".

I'd be interested in any reviews of the new album.....

I think it's two albums and an ep. The second album is called
"Swagger" - fantastic, can't remember the ep name & never knew the
name of their first one. The new one's coming out soon. I heard
Michael Stipe say it's incredible, etc...of course he's friends
w/ them (& sung on Swagger.)

The Blue Areoplanes are a Bristol based band who have been around since
about 1985. I first saw them at Pilton pop fest(Glastonbury) in 87 on
stage 2, and was freaked by about seven guitarists on stage plus a
groovy dancer. The first album i bought was there 88 album 'Spitting
out Miricles' which is a truly amazing album.

    The album i have are:

    1) 1987 - Tolerance
    2) 1988 - Spitting out miricles
    3) 1989 - compilation( double album )
    4) 1988/89 - Peel sessions
    5) Swagger
    6) Beatsongs

There is another album i can't remember the name of and there may be
    yet another both pre 88.
The first two in the above list have some very good tracks and some
absolute crap. The compilation is not worth getting but the peel
sessions are good. There music has changed with the last two albums
    being a lot more poppy.
Has anyone heard of Rodney Allen? he's a guy i used to know when i
lived in somerset who was a bit of a Billy Bragg/Paul Weller freak, he
was a local pop star and recorded an album and a couple of E.P's, some
of which is good stuff. Well i was most distressed when i last ssaw him
and found out that he had ruined my favourite band by joining it. Also
John Langley Ex drummer and brother of singer can be found working in
a second hand record shop in Park st, Bristol.

I'm amazed that they never made it big before now, it just goes to
show how much work you have to put in to 'make it.
Could you possibly need more info , if you do i can give you Rodneys
address which is also the sort of fan club. It won't be for about 2
weeks though cos i'm on my hols.

" And accordians weave from Cajan to the king of America, ah weeks of
this unnatural speed will kill everything, i'm sorry... i can manage it
but i just can't imaging it"

According to a report in a recent NME:

- The Blue Aeroplanes negotiating to leave Ensign (owned by EMI) after Ensign
founders quit. TBA to sign with Rough Trade
- enough material 'in the can' for 2 new albums
- expect one of them within 3 months.
