726.0. "Jesus Christ Superstar" by DECXPS::MKELLY () Tue Aug 28 1990 14:33

    I just bought the Jesus Christ Superstar (Origian London Version)
    on CD. I've had the album for about 20 years and have ALWAYS wondered
    who the players are. Some I know such as Ian Gillian, Barry Dennen
    and Yvonne Elliman. Who is Murray Head, Victor Brox, Annette Brox
    Mike D'Abo (I think he's from Manfred Mann) and the others. This
    would ease a very troubled mind if I could get some answers!

    Thanks.
    Mike.

    Mike D'Abo was indeed in Manfred Mann. I think he replaced Paul Jones
    (or was it the other way round?).

    I never heard of Murray Head before or since. There was a rendition of
    Jesus Christ Superstar (title track) on the TV a month or so ago and I
    could have sworn the singer was Murray Head. Turned out it was Paul
    Nicholas.

726.2Wasn't that him?CHEST::SAXBYIs this personal or what?Tue Aug 28 1990 17:257

    Murray Head cropped up in Chess didn't he?

    I'm sure he had a hit with 'One night in Bangcock' or whatever it was
    called.

    re .-1: Yup.

    One of the guitarists was Henry Mucolloch (sp?). Does anyone know for
    sure if he was the same H.M. that played in Wings w/ Paulie for a while?
    The H.M. w/ Paul is on _Red_Rose_Speedway_ and can be seen in the vid for
    "My Love."

    .0 mentioned that he had heard of Barry Dennen. I haven't. What else
    has he done?

726.4The very same HenryCASEE::MERRICKWherever you go, there you areMon Sep 03 1990 14:406
    Murray Head also had a hit with "Say it ain't so, joe".

    Re-1. Yes, it was the same Henry McCullough. He joined Wings in January
    82 and also continued as a session player (JCS, Spooky Tooth, Carol
    Grimes etc). He seemed to disapear for a while before playing with
    Roxy Music and later Bryan Ferry.
726.5it was Jimmy McCullough, wasn't it?NAVIER::STARRSRV.....I can't believe you're gone.......Tue Sep 04 1990 20:093
Wasn't the Wings guitarist Jimmy McCullough, not Henry McCullough???

    Yes and No.

    I mean both, but Henry didn't stay for very long, and Jimmy died.
726.7Barry Where Are You?CSCMA::BURKEWed Sep 05 1990 23:335
    Barry Dennen was the person who inspired Barbra Streisand to
    sing "Cry me a River" in the early sixties. He was her manager
    in the years before she made it big...What he's done besides
    JCS is a mystery to me....

    I think you meant Henry Mucolloch was in Wings in '72, yes?
