| Howard Devoto? I though Pete Shelly sang all the Buzzcocks songs? (and maybe
I'm totally off the beaten track, but I thought Howard Devoto was in
Television, or some group like that?) Can someone set me straight?

| Pete Shelley does sing most of the Buzzcocks tracks.
Howard Devoto was in Magazine and is now on his own,
with a very good backing band.
Buzzcocks were talking about "reuniting" while they were
on their retro-tour. (During the interview I heard, it
sounded like they just needed a record company.)

| Howard Devoto was singer with the 'Cocks in their early days, and
appears on the legendary 'Spiral Scratch' ep, which contains the
classic seminal punk anthem 'boredom', as well as three other fine
examples of the genre.
Will these superlatives never cease?

BTW, Television's main man was Tom Verlaine.

| Hi Dave,
I haven't done this (yet) but I have been toying with the idea.
Knowing absolutely nothing about SQL or RDB could I recommend that you include
the following fields, in addition to the standard ones (ie Artist, Album, Media
type, songs, etc):
- Owner's name
- Borrower's name
You could then get friends to put their records in also, so that if you wanted
to check out a particular artist you could simply pull by Artist Name & show
Artist-Album-Media-Owner.
Let me know how you get on,
-Brian.

| Good note.
I have all my stuff on a WPS document, as text. I have fields Artist,
Title, Comments, Country of release, format (ie. 3"CD, 12"PS LTD - PS
being picture sleeve, and LTD meaning limited edition). Then I have
all the tracks and mixes listed underneath each song. If I was to set
up a database I would also include the catalogue number of each record
and the length of each mix. I have thought about doing this myself
using Datatrieve of Focus, but I'd rather do it on my own computer
(which I don't have), so the idea's on hold. I also have a list of
records I want.

I remember a DCL catalogue, called RECORDING.COM, someone
put into the UKCSSE::COMMAND_PROCEDURES conference some time
ago, it didn't have as many fields as you're looking for, but
did produce useful reports. A DIR/TITLE=RECORD might find it.
