629.0. "Bay City Rollers" by ILOV14::PATTISON (A rolling stone gets the worm.) Fri Mar 09 1990 20:28

I noticed in last weeks NME that the Bay City Rollers are touring
    the U.K. at the moment.

I wonder how much the tickets cost?

    p.s.

Anyone *brave* enough to admit to wearing (just once) a shirt with
a bit of tartan on the pocket?

I'm brave enough to admit wearing a pair of khaki army shorts with
sewn-on tartan trimmings on stage once.

629.2The Day the Music Died...LARVAE::BRIGGSThey use computers don't they?Mon Mar 12 1990 12:4517

Looking at Q Magazine's summary of the 80s I realized that I had
virtually lost total interest in current pop/rock music by the time the
80s had arrived. This was evident by the fact that I really had not
heard of half the groups or the majority of big hits.

Analyzing this a bit further, I came to the conclusion that, for me,
the day the music started to die was when the Bay City Rollers appeared
on the scene, sometime in '75 I think! Adam Ant probably put the nail
in the coffin. U2 and Suzanne Vega convinced me that it had all been
    done before.

Of course, I then realized that much of what happened in the 60s had
also been done before (withthe exception of a few notables). Hence my
interest in recent years in Chuck Berry, Buddy Holly etc.

I've seen that Keith's first live band (seen that is) `Smokie' are
doing a tour at the moment. They're in the Hexagon sonetime this month
I think. So is the Great Daniel O'Donnell by the way.
