557.0. "After I'm Gone?" by KERNEL::BARTLEY () Thu Nov 30 1989 23:57

    I am going to have the slow movement from Beethoven's 7th played
    at my funeral service (some way off I hope!). I may have a recording
    played or I may get a friend of mine to transcribe it for an organ
    - I'll have to see what it sounds like on the organ. In any event,
    it's a wonderful piece of music and will make my funeral really
    enjoyable - one of the best I've attended. :-)

    I've chosen a couple of favourite hymns as well of course.

    I'm curious to know what you all would choose to see you off?

         If you're really curious about hearing the second movement of
    Beethoven's 7th played on an organ rent the movie "Zardoz". They do
    just that, except a solo vocal supplies the part of the violins. I'd
    appreciate any information on finding such a recorded arrangement.

         And BTW, I'll have them play "Die Young, Stay Pretty" by Blondie
    for my funeral.

    Thanks Tony, I'll rent Zardoz if I can find it. I'll see if I can
    persuade my friend to record this piece on the organ. He's an
    excellent musician and I don't think he would have too much of a
    problem, other than finding the time.
