What exactly do you mean by "British Music" ?

    Music played only by Britons?

    Music recorded/played/written/(whatever?) in Britain?

Where does for eg.U2,A-Ha,Gipsy Kings,(not to mention bands from
Down-Under and Across the Pond) fit in?

Will we have to wait until Stewart Copeland(The Police's Drummer)
    gets his British passport??? :-)

    1. The Smiths/Morrissey - Just somebody who knew how I felt - and God I
needed that when I was younger (still do).
    2. The Cure - Similar atitude to The Smiths but much more atmospheric
    		  and plenty of imagery.
    3. James - The best live band in the world!
    4. The Wedding Present - Most down to Earth lyrics coupled with angry
                             guitars - great stuff.
    5. Talking Heads - First got interested in 'Road To Nowhere' - some
really good stuff over the past 10 years.
    6. R.E.M. - It's the end of the world as we know it and I feel fine!
    7. New Order/Joy Division - Best of the electronic early 80's
    8. The Jam - Best of the mods. How can anyone forget these guys.
    9. Inspiral Carpets - Showing loads of promise.
10.Simple Minds - Beat U2 to the 10th spot because of a certain single
    'DYFAM'

I reckon that these are the best of the 80's. [This doesn't mean that I am
a huge fan of all of the below, e.g. I have only 1 Prince album]

	1. U2 2. Something Happens
	3. Deacon Blue 4. Cry before dawn
	5. The Cure 6. The Sugarcubes
	7. Depeche Mode	8. Prince
	9. INXS 10. the The

with honourable mention of: Kate Bush, Elvis Costello, Duran Duran (I was young)
Simple Minds, Annie & Vince, and MANY MANY MORE!!!

I read an interview with Shane recently and the future of the Pogues
didn't seem very safe at all, speculation is one thing but when the
lead singer says he's fed up with the whole thing then there must be
    something to it.

    Hi Folks,

as I didn't know, in which topic I'm able to write my comment, I've
selected this one. Please excuse me for that.

I'm a German guy and live near Hamburg (this is the reason for my bad
English). I do like you all, to do me a favour.

I'm a big IT BITES fan. They're totally unknown, here in Germany. They
all from Cumbria but have moved over to London in times. The
Singer/Guitarist Francis Dunnery has recently left the Band and has
moved over to Los Angeles. A new singer, Lee Knott, has joined the
band. I have collected a lot of their items. But it is very difficult
to get their stuff, over here in Germany. So this is my question:

Are there any IT BITES fans out there? I will love it to get any reply
    of this ad.

Thanx a lot for your forthcomming help.

    Hello Tim,

some great news. Do you remember what size the record has?
7" or 12"? Are you able to sell me this record? Or we, maybee,
can do a swap. Who has signed the record?
If you're going to offer me this item, please let me know, how much it
    will cost.

    Thanx.

Peter its a 7", I can't remember who signed it but I think it was the
    whole group.

I'm sorry I can't sell it or swap it, record collecting is a hobby of
mine and I don't really like to part with them once I have them, I'll
look tonight and see who signed it.

    Tim

543.31Have you met them?HAMIS3::BRUEHLTALK TO MEWed Apr 03 1991 18:5913

    Tim,

    thankyou anyway.

If you're collecting records, I can let you get an unsigned 7" Calling
All The Heroes. But it is ok, if you're going to hold this item in your
collection. Eventually you can let me get a Photocopy of the cover.

    Have a nice evening.
