533.0. "Majestic Nightclub Reading 11:15-11:30" by PEKING::GLYNNP (I'd give my right arm to be ambidextorous) Thu Nov 09 1989 18:38

Was anybody around the Majestic Nightclub in Reading last night,
    between 11:15 and 11:30.

A young man apeared to be hit by one of the doormen of the Nightclub.

The man was taken to Hospital with a large split in his head,
unconscious and had swallowed his tongue.

    The police were called.

If you were around there at the time, please contact the Thames
    Valley police

    Thanks

    I agree with Tony..

A friend of mine was killed the a few months ago.
Came out of the club/Dive and was hit by a Taxi....
    	Not a very nice place.

Please be careful how you phrase things. Implying that the club is
somehow responsible for a death is an exremely serious allegation; in
legal terms it could be called "libel".

It's no libel to point out that the Majestic has been in the news on
several occasions for violence, and for violating fire regulations.

I'd certainly avoided it until it got its act together. Reading cries
out for more places to enjoy music -- particularly live music -- and the
building could be put to better use.

I,m not saying that the club has anything to do with my friend death
but the violence that comes from there is terrible. The club never
seems to change. It seems that the management doesn't care for
the saftey of its customers. (May be/May not be) true. The building
is a tip to look at let alone go in. I've only ever been there
once. I have no intentions of going again........

I saw the guy's friend on Friday.

He has has stitches in his head and will be scarred.
He also tore some ligaments meaning that he may have a limp for
    life.

A small point of interest, the people that own the Majestic, also
    own Windsor Safari Park.

I'd say it's clearly remarkable that Windsor Safari Park and The
MAjestic have anything in common at all. Lets hope the dangerous
animals in Windsor are keenly supervised.

The question in .12 is one I ask myself each time I pass the place.
