530.0. "Laurie Anderson " by JUMBLY::OCONNOR (_....people just float) Thu Nov 02 1989 16:43

    Hi,
I'm hoping that any American or Canadian(!) readers may be able to
help me with this. I'll be in the States (and Canada) between 22 Nov
and 22 Dec. Mostly in the Boston area...and then Ottawa.

I've read that Laurie Anderson (`Oh Superman' etc) is playing
concerts in that general (huge!) area about that time. Does anybody
know the exact dates and venues ? I could probably post this in a
U.S. music file, but I've never even looked at them.

Thanks in advance. (that's if I get any replies!)

If you can wait until tomorrow, I'll get you a rundown of her and
some other stuff if you want.

Thanks Sue. The NME ("Bible") mentioned dates recently. They were not
    specific though.

Tim, have you got any Laurie Anderson lps? The one that starts off
with the track 'Sharkey's Day' is an absolute corker. I think Peter
Gabriel also guests on one or two tracks....

"Sun's going down like a big bald head..."

Yes Bob I have just two, "Big Science" and the soundtrack to the concert
movie. I've forgotten the title of it. Both, to use Dave K's term are
quite `spacey'. U.S. writer William Burroughs turns up on it. In the
film there's a short waltz with L.Anderson and of course reading
`Sharkey's Night' in his dull monotone.

"You know I can see two _tiny_ pictures of myself
And there's one in each of your eyes..."

    Nuff said.

Hey kawbsawbee!!
530.5Well, it was there last week!HYEND::SCHILTONWhen they said sit down,I stood upFri Nov 03 1989 16:138
There is *no* mention of her in this week's Phoenix, but don't
worry....I'll find out (I'll check the rubbish for last week's.
I remember seeing a big photo of her and text that I didn't read.)

If you want to know in general what other stuff will be in the
Boston area just say so and I'll type it in.

530.65 album live set - United StatesRAB::KARDONI must not think bad thoughtsFri Nov 03 1989 17:466
Laurie Anderson fans should also check out "United States", a live
five album set. This album is hard to find nowadays, but really worth
it! I'm hoping against hope that some day it will be released on CD,
but I don't think the LA demand would warrent a 3-CD set.

Yes it would be good to know what else is happening then. I'll check
last week's music press again but I'm pretty sure the exact dates are
    not in it.

    I've just bought the new cassette(LP/CD) `Strange Angels'. Haven't
    heard it yet though.
