That much of Rea's material is of a given formula is obscured by
the fact that he is also consistently good; prolofic and original
together isn't easy, but he does it and gets better.

Superb production and being backed a good, tight band of real musicians
helps a lot, though; but then if he wasn't good, they wouldn't play
    on his tracks.

It's time he got the recognition in the UK that he's had on the
    continent for years.

I got a copy of the 12 inch version, backed by Josephine.
The album is delayed two weeks because 'the single is selling
so well' (so they said in the shop).

My favourite album is still "Wired to the Moon"

Hmmm, I've got his album "Shamrock Diaries", which I've pulled
out recently and have been playing again. "Josephine" was my favourite
track. I think I'll probably be swayed into buying his new one.
I think its not only his type of music, its his gravelly voice which
    I like.

509.4Like the new one..EAYV01::BARRONFri Oct 06 1989 15:1310

I just heard his new single for the first time this morning. I
must admit I prefered it to anything he has done in the recent past.
I have all his LPs, the most favorite being Wired to the Moon.
I see he is touring again, but as I have been to see him 3 times
in the last couple of years, I'm giving this one a miss

Does he have a new album out?

Hasn't anyone bought the new album cept me?
It is quite interesting as all the songs are about how bad the quality
of life has become in the South East of England.

To be hones the words are a bit gloomy but if you listen to the music
    you can overcome that...

I should have included the (dumbo) smilies. But he has been around
about 20 years so I thought it would be over 10 at least. Maybe I'm
    wrong.

Wait a minute ! this is a Chris Rea note.

I have all albums of both artists and the only similarities that
I can see between the two are the somewaht 'laid back' approach
and both write some damn good songs.

Chris's albums I find are very polished and don't really translate
the raw power of the man's voice and playing when he performing
    live.

I have seen him 3 times.

Waiting to purchase the new album but have to wait until after I
    raid my daughter's piggy bank.

Yeh! Anyway, back to Chris Rea. I haven't got the new album yet,
waiting for a few pressies over Christmas (the sister might get
me this album). The new song is good.

I've seen him twice in Dublin, and both times he was excellent.
I have to agree with the .3 note Shamrock Diaries is my favourite
album of Chris's stuff and the song Josephine - one of my favourites
    too.

    -Gary.
