452.0. "Reading Rock Festival '89" by RTOIC::HHALISCHAK (Birth School Work Death) Mon Jun 26 1989 14:12

I read in Q that the Reading Rock Festival is on again this summer,
Friday 25th to Sunday 27th August. The lineup sounds quite interesting,
and as I'm going to be in England on holiday around this time anyway
I'm thinking of making it there.

The lineup obviously includes: New Order
    				   New Model Army
    				   The Pogues
    				   That Petrol Emotion (great, their
    					Munich gig was cancelled last
    					autumn)
    				   The Wonderstuff
Billy Bragg (I missed him in Munich
as i was too lazy to go!)
    				   The Mission
and some others probably. Any more info/confirmation on that?

And some more questions: What about prices for single days, i.e. just
Friday and Saturday? And what about this bottle-throwing business?
Will I need a crash helmet? And what about camping facilities, and
    what's the venue itself like?

    	Waiting for info,
    		H.

Yes you are right Reading Rock is on again. The bands you mentioned
are on but I cant remember who else. Its 32 pounds 50 for the week
end which includes camp site cahrge and parking for a car.

The Bottle Throwing business is a usual each year but theyr'e only
plastic and dont hurt very much (No glass bottles or cans are allowed
inside the arena). The only person that I know who got hurt by
a bottle was Meatloaf so thats alright.

I havent got a copy of the billing with me at the moment but if
you want to know anything give us a call (7852 4027 or PEKING::GLYNNP)
and I'll get hold of one.

Oh yeah ? Wait until you get hit with a half gallon container filled
with urine - then say it doesn't hurt !
452.3Yeah ok you get some urinePEKING::GLYNNPMon Jun 26 1989 16:427

I never get hit. Try using a reinforced umbrella or stand next
    to an Angel.

By the way H. note 422 has got the full line up.

    Paul.

    About bottle throughing...

I heard that no cans/plastic bottles are to be allowed in the arena
this year - if you want a drink you've got to go to one of the
rip-off-vans and pay God knows how much for a plastic cup of
    drink...what a bucking fitch.

    Sorry Mr Moderator.

I havent heard anything about bottles not being let in.

It would be unusual 'cos they'd have to have a flippin big Bar !

    Its probably just a rumour

    Sorry, It is true.

I saw someones Season Ticket and it says no food or drink to be
    brought into the arena.

    What a flippin bummer.

Well, the line-up for Reading "Rock" '90 looks pretty good with
the Inspirals, the Cramps and the Fall headlining I believe. Not
sure about the full line-up but from what I remember Billy Bragg
is on. Mean Fiddler tent looks pretty good again this year as well.

Sunday headliner is The Pixies, not The Fall. I still don't know
whether to go, I think we were too spoiled for bands last year. The
Cramps and the Pixies are just not headliners for me. I'll probably go
    tho...
