356.0. "Does Elvis live?" by AYOV28::MDONNELLY (turn that jungle music down) Mon Feb 27 1989 15:56

Did anybody see "Saturday Night Clive" with Clive James on Saturday?

He did a sat/link interview with a woman who claims she had an
affair with Elvis Presley from 1979 to 1981. I must say I expected
some crackpot or other, but although I was far from convinced, she
    did get me thinking.

She claims Elvis staged his own death to get away from the pressures
of superstardom, had totally changed his appearance and was living
quietly under another name - Pelvis Resley or something - no just
    joking!

She probably is a crackpot, but it occured to me that Presley had
the money and influence to carry something like this off.

And some of her anecdotes were strangely plausible.

    What do you think?

When i lived in Memphis i met Elvis Presley a few times
And after a bit we started going steady. This was back in
about 1975 and i now have a 14 year old gorilla which looks
just like Elvis. I am at this very moment going through a
court case to prove Elvis was the father and when they dug
him up to do some carbon dating i was proved right and am
being fined $100,000 for sleeping with a jam doughnut.

p.s Only joking Elvis was ok R.I.P

I saw, probably the same woman, on some programme a month or so
back. I must admit she did make it sound very convincing but then
again don't do most con people.

It all makes for very interesting/curious TV/reading but I would
be VERY VERY surprised if this woman was telling the truth (he says
reserving the right to be just 1% doubtful about his own convictions
and managing to feel silly about having this 1% doubt.)

This woman has/is probably making quite a bit of money out of all
this.................yes, and I was telling you about the time John
Lennon and myself went to last years FA cup final.............

    Cheers

I must confess that I am also of the opinion that this a load of
    old......

For someone who was so involved in the music industry, if he had
staged his death, surely by now the recording itch would have got
to him, and something would have been heard by now, even if it was
    producing records.

Well I saw an album the other day by someone called Elvis Hitler.

Now this must mean that Hitler never topped himself because if he
had he would never have heard of the christian name Elvis and would
not have adopted it for himself.

Now I could be jumping to conclusions here, but I get the distinct
impression you guys are not taking my base note very seriously.

    Ask yourself these questions:-

Has any one of you ever clapped eyes on the death certificate?

Frankie Vaughan hasn't had a hit single since 1968 but do we assume
    he's dead?

Precilla (can't_spell_that_damn_middle_name) Presley doesn't look much
like the 'distraught widow' to me when she appears in Dallas.

No psychic medium has ever reported 'making contact' with Presley
    - don't you find that a little strange?

    I sense an elaborate conspiracy.
    Mark my words.

Well that's hardly surprising since she ran off with their karate
instructor years before the alleged death

 >> No psychic medium has ever reported 'making contact' with Presley
 >> - don't you find that a little strange?

Not true - according to The Sun, Doris Stokes contacted him just
after he, and before she, died. (Or at least, so I was told by someone
who reads the Sun, not a friend of mine you understand ...)

Did you read the story about Elvis was said to have been seen in
London somewhere busking with a guitar - he was supposedly raising
money to do up Gracelands !! hahahahaha!!

Let the guy lay in piece with what little dignity he has left.

356.25The greatest ! KIRKTN::JJACKElv The PelvFri Jul 30 1993 05:5726

I know it's been over three years since the previous entry, but here
    goes.............

I did a DIR/TITLE= "Elvis Presley" in the hope of finding some
interesting reading regarding the great man.
Unfortunately, Elvis: The King, turned out to be about Mr.Costello
(Whom I gave up liking around 10 years ago when he stopped writing decent
     material).
Therefor, I'm writing in the hope that some REAL Elvis (presley that is)
fan could enlighten me as to any other notesfiles or topics that
exist where I could read about the REAL King.
It's taken me this long to realise what an excellent entertainer/vocalist
he was, and I'm kinda hoping to catch up on lost time by getting as much
info about him as humanly poss.

    Any helpers ?

P.S. All sarcastic replies or attempts at being funny, please don't
         bother.

at Kareoke's (my repotioire now consisting of over a dozen songs, from
