327.0. "SHAKIN' STEVENS 1989 UK TOUR" by 42139::NEWBERYA () Fri Jan 27 1989 13:31

Shakin' Stevens, the Welsh singing sensation, begins his 1989 UK
    Tour in April.

He will doing about 25 shows in all including some at London (x3),
    Bristol, Southampton and Oxford.

I am thinking about arranging a coach party, from Reading, to one
of these shows. Is anybody out there interested in going if I did
    arrange something?

Obviously I am going to need to know, ASAP, a list of all those
vaguely interested before I go ahead and start making enquiries.

If I do get something more definite arranged I would probably need
a small deposit from all those wishing to be included. Would this
be a problem? Your comments PLEASE.

If you like the sound of this perhap you could get in touch with
me as soon as possible, direct by mail or phone, preferably not
    via this conference.

I'd like to put in an advert for Shakey - I've never seen him, but
a good friend of mine is his trumpet player! Apparently, Shakey
puts on a great show - though, of course, one pre-requisite is that
you like the sort of music he plays!

I saw him with the Sunsets as well. Great show. Much louder and funnier
than he is now, I imagine.

Is what true? That a friend of mine is Shakey's trumpet player?
Hey, would I lie to you...?!!

It's also true that he's says the show is superb. I think they're
changing the show for this tour, actually - apparently Shakey uses
the same show for four or five tours, then they work out a new one.

You want a biog? Well, my pal's Dick Hanson, who's one of the Rumour
Brass (which is how I know so much about the Rumour Brass!), and
Shakey uses them as his brass section (has done for years). Dick
and I play in a band together - when he's not touring or recording
with Shakey, or playing in one of the other grillion bands he's
    involved with...

Oh, and before you ask, I'm afraid he can't get freebie tickets.
He gets an allocation of two PER YEAR (honestly).

    Nick

Why would I ask for free tickets??!! What kind of sponger do you
    take me for?!
Actually matey, do you think there is any possibility of him getting
me the autograph of one of Shaky's backing vocalists, Anthony Thompson???
Is there any more juicy gossip about Shaky, his tour or anything
else of interest that you could pass on to me, pretty please?

> Why would I ask for free tickets??!! What kind of sponger do you
> take me for?!

No kind of sponger at all... I just thought I'd mention that freeby
tickets are not at all easy to come by.

If I hear any gossip about the tour, I'll let you know. They don't
start rehearsing until the end of March though, so don't hold your
    breath...

    Nick

ps I'll see what I can do about the autograph - I'll write myself
a mental note to ask Dick next time I see him
