I agree with your comments about Joan. I'd hoped to see her during
her last tour, but her gig in our town was cancelled, and I didn't
have time to arrange travel, etc, to other venues.
I can recommend "The Key", with "I Love It When You Call Me Names"
on it - great stuff; also "Walk Under Ladders" has some good tracks
but I don't have the album. "Track Record" is a good compilation
to introduce anyone who doesn't know Joan's work (is there anyone??).
Personally I prefer her older, more simple stuff, especially that
produced by Glyn Johns, but "Shouting Stage" gets back to her roots
more than some others.
If you listen to John Peel, you'd never believe it was he who gave
Joan her first "airings", back in about 1974, I think.
A word of warning - requests for taping of albums in notesfiles
are frowned upon, as it leaves us wide open to all sorts of
copyright-infringement allegations. I'm not saying nobody does it,
though.;-) These files are too enjoyable to be trod on for something
like that.
