I just heard on the radio that Roy Orbison was dead.

    I'm shattered, can't believe it.

    Does anyone know any more?

What a shock. I know the guy has had health problems over the years but
it still comes as a shock.

He has/had one of *the* most distinctive voices in rock and had just
participated in a brilliant album in 'The Travelling Wilburys' which saw him in
better voice than in the past 20 years. I think there is a new album produced
by Jeff Lynn about to be released.

I seem to recall reading some notes in the MUSIC file from a friend of
ROs who shared his hobby of model aeroplanes. I'll search it out as there were
a lot of interesting insights into the man.

There's not much more I can add to everything that's been said in the
past few days, except that I just saw Roy in concert the Friday before
he died. He was at the Channel, a rock club in Boston MA USA for two
sold-out shows Friday and Saturday night, after which he played his
    last gig in Ohio.

The crowd was screaming, yelling, in love with this man! I had seen
him twice before, but this was different. There were people 20, 30,
40, 50, and 60 years old, from all experiences, there to hear Roy
Orbison do what he did best.

As always, Roy did not disappoint. Seeing him a few feet away on
Friday made it all the more unbelievable when I heard the news just a
    few days later.

BTW, if any of you don't have the latest collection "For the Lonely" on
CD, you should! All the songs sound GREAT! I also heard today that
Virgin Records, scheduled to release Roy's new album in February, have
moved up the release date to January.
