153.0. "Don MacLean" by IPG::MORGAN (Its dark and we're wearing sunglasses) Fri Jul 22 1988 20:17

My wife is keen on Don MacLean, especially so a track called, I
    think, 'Castles In The Air'.

If any kind soul could/would tell me te CD/LP the aforementioned
track appears on I would be eternally grateful.

    Ta in anticipation.

    re .0...

don't know if "Castles..." is on an album. If so it'll probably
pale into insignificance when compared to Maclean's "American Pie"
    album.

It's on the flip side of "Vincent" (in the original version),
and was re-recorded as a single later. Not aware that it's on an
    album.

I don't have "American Pie" any more. My ex-girlfriend had a really
scratched copy. Loved the music, but it is pretty depressing.

Besides, the scratches are all part of it, I try not to let them

Eeeerrr .... AAHEEeeemmm... 'scuse me, could I say something ?

'Castles in the Air' is NOT on American Pie, though 'Vincent' is.

It's on 'The Very Best of Don McLean', on the United Artists label,
which I would reccommend to any McLean fan.

'American Pie' is NOT depressing (except 'The Grave', which I think
should not have been on that album).

    Seconded...

Yes, I too would recommend the afore mentioned Best of album. It
has everything I ever wanted by Don Mclean on including Castles.

I believe that the song "American Pie" became such a millstone around
his neck at one time, that this was the very first song he played
live. This is quite rare for any artists to do. The album after
American Pie (don't know title) was good, but was all but ignored
due to "Pie's" success. He still seels out on tours and has a very
    faithful UK following.
