119.0. "Wired - on TV Friday!!!!" by CHEFS::IMMSA () Tue Jun 21 1988 16:48

For those in the UK who are interested, there is a programme on
Channel 4 on Friday this week called "Wired". It is a late night
music programme and this week it features Ry Cooder, who they bill
as "master of the slide guitar".

If you cannot stay up late and have no video, it is repeated on
    Sunday morning.

Hopefully we will all get to see what I am always going on about!!!

    regards

I saw Wired on Friday night and it featured a female singer
whose name I cannot remember. I watched it again on Sunday morning
and again managed to miss her name. Can anybody remember what it
    was? She was brilliant.

The show itself is fairly good. I liked the bit on Steve Windwood
    last week.

Thanks. Now for the next question , has she any records released
or is she a new discovery who has'nt got around to it yet? She
is the best new act I have heard in ages.

She was interviewed on 'Wired' two weeks ago I think. Apparently she
used to be a backing singer for most of the big chart names, but now she's
going solo. I think they said she's got an album out but I'm not
    sure.

Yes, Julia Fordham does have an album out, or at least the release
date is *imminent*. The album is called "Julia Fordham" (pretty
snappy title eh?), and contains the new single "Happy Ever After"
(as shown on Wired), and her debut release, "The Comfort Of Strangers"

Thank you all very much. I'll keep an eye out for it in the
shops. I hope it gets release here in Ireland 8-).

    	Update on Julia Fordham,

Her material is getting late night airplay on national radio
here in Ireland (RTE 2). Mike Moloney (the Dj) has played it
every night this week just after 1 am. I must go and look
for the Lp on Saturday if I survive the DEC end of year party on
    	Friday night.

    	Update no. 2.

I managed to get the album (thanks to friends who were visiting
Dublin) and I am very impressed! Very nice of her to include
the lyrics on the sleeve. The album seems to be selling very
well in Dublin as HMV were sold out and Virgin had only two
    	copies left!.
