Been a while since I first saw this film. But one of the
highlighs was 'Ten Years After' doing 'going home' ? with
Alvin Lee on guitar...great stuff.Anybody know what Alvin L
is up to nowadays ?. I know he formed a follow up band called
'Ten Years later'?, but I never heard much of their stuff.

Joe Cocker was really in Hi-Spirits !!! luved his boots :-).

Anybody hear the 'story' of the guy who went to Woodstock
dropped a 'load' of acid and passed-out under the stage.
The construction crew found him in a HAZE when they were
removing the stage after the festival. Apparantly he slept
    during the whole event !!!!

The film is quite long so make sure the cushion is extra
    soft.

    Wasn't it wonderful?

The highlights for me were the previously mentioned Ten Years After,
Santana, Crosby Stills and Nash and the sight of all those REAL drum kits.

I am old enough to remember the days when no self-respecting rock
band ever played a gig without a drum solo. Most of them were pretty
tedious, mind, but any of them would beat the current trend of plastic
    drums.

The 'lowlight' for me was John Sebastian. Real 'hey, man' stuff.

The funny thing about it all was that quite a few bands made there
names here - especially Santana and Ten Years After - the latter
suffereing from Woodstock 'hangover' for many years.

Many artists didn't make the film, but made the records - the Dead
    and Airplane being two.

I have both albums on oroginal Cotillion label - very worn now,
but still some great stuf there!!

    David.

Correction - The Dead didn't make the soundtrack either!!!

58.11another no-show...HAZEL::STARRYou grow up and you calm downThu Jun 02 1988 19:414
Credence Clearwater Revival was also there, but didn't make the
    soundtrack or the movie.

The Band also played Woodstock and did not appear in the film or on
either record.

The Dead might not be on film but Jerry Garcia is. He is only on for
about 10 secs but easily recognisable from black beard and orange specs. He
holds up a large joint and says something like 'Marijuana - Exhibit A'.

This made a big impression on me when I saw the film in 1971.

	I got my glasses tinted.

58.13Anybody know about 'Mountain' ??RDGCSS::STONEDistant, Alone, Beneath the platinum stars ...Tue Jul 05 1988 21:4114
A couple of years back I went to Knebworth to see the the reformed
'Deep purple'; one of the support bands was 'Mountain' who introduced
themselves to the crowd with something like '.. most of you probably
haven't heard of us, but if you're interested our first gig was
    Woodstock...'.

Question is, I've checked up and they did play Woodstock BUT was
    it their first gig ???

    	Anybody know for sure ?

According to a book I have Woodstock was their fourth gig (perhaps
    the first three were forgettable?)

Mountain made some great albums, "Nantucket Sleighride", "Flowers
of Evil" and a live one. At the time they were 'the new Cream' (I
presume because of the presence of Felix Pappalardi).

As an aside, I saw a new album of theirs recently in Germany and
on the sleeve it had something like "To Felix Pappalardi, may he
Rock in Peace" - does this mean he is no longer alive ?

    Anybody know?

felix pappalardi was shot through the head by his wife some years
    ago.
Leslie west the guitarist has recently issued a new album entitled
"theme" he made this album with jack bruce and features some great
songs both old and new there are some great versions of some of
the old cream standards on the album.

Must admit that I hadn't heard that Felix Pappalardi was dead.
I do believe that he was certified deaf in one ear!!!

Soundtrack/theme for ITV's Weekend World is ... "Nantucket Sleighride"

The Byrds also played but didn't make the film or record...Iron
Butterfly were also billed but apparently couldn't get into the

    dubbed....it's a scream
