835.0. "Booting from Mirror disk ?" by 42080::HARRINGTONM () Thu May 29 1997 07:18

    I have a Alpha 4100 that is runing NT Clusters 1.1.

    The customer has decided to use NT Mirroring on the system disk ( C:
    NTFS Z: osloader ). This we have set up no problem. However, we now
    need to check the "boot from the mirror disk" and I'm having problems

    I have created a new boot option, changing the path options. We get the
    blue screen, clusters info, then it crashes with a dump - If you need
    the numbers I can get them today.

    Have I done anything wrong ?? - TechNet says not !!

    I do have a stand alone system, with a SWXCR in. I shall try it on
    there to see if I have a similar problem.

    Many Thanks

    Rgds

835.2Boot Floppy DiskEVTAI1::clpwnt.evt.dec.com::QUENARDNever UP - Never INMon Jun 02 1997 08:387
Have you try with a fault-tolerant boot floppy disk ?

see Windows NT "Concepts and Planning Guide," "Managing fault tolerance and UPS
Chapter"   Page 164

835.3FYI - I didn't know you had to break the mirror42080::HARRINGTONMTue Jun 03 1997 03:3610
    FYI

    I did not realise that you have to break a mirror set to be able to
    boot from it - especially as I was only testing for a failure. All
    systems boot form their mirror copy provided you break the mirror
    first - I pulled t he disk out !
