718.0. "IP failover and Oracle" by CSC32::P_BRADY () Wed Mar 26 1997 21:58

    Hello all.
I have a Customer that is upgradeing his cluster to 1.1 He is going to
be using the oracle enterprise server for NT. He has a couple of
    questions.

He wants to use IP failover.

    1. Is there any differance in how he sets up the oracle failover
object, or does he just de-select the named pipes option.

    2. Does he need to create both an Oracle failover object and and IP
    failover object.

    3. On the client side does he just use the IP address of the IP
    failover object.

    Any help would be great....
    Thanks...

He can de-select Named Pipes and have only IP Sockets or
have them bopth active. (Need to get the listener.ora file
	correct for this)

You need to have and an IP object and an Oracle object grouped
together to the same disk where the Oracle Instance resides on.

On the client you need to put in the tnsnames.ora indeed
the IP address that's associated with the Oracle Instance in
	the cluster.
