715.0. "banyan client and newrev crashes win95 cluster client" by NETRIX::"petersonji@mail.dec.com" (Jim Peterson) Wed Mar 26 1997 13:32

G'day

I am currently working a outage involving cluster for windows NT version
1.0 sp 2. On a windows 95 client with Banyans latest 32 bit software as well
as their previous 6.x version. Whenever the cust runs NEWREV with the
clusterin software loaded he gets the following error immediately upon
acknowledging the version update under newrev

Fatal exception 0E has occurred at 0028:c00pe6B8 in VXD DLCNAMC (01)
+ 00003B60. The current application will be terminated.

If he removes the cluster software everything works fine, I've also been
able to reproduce this in the lab. W95 SP1 does not help out either, and
the cluster client has the latest rev. Anyone got any ideas, currently we are
trying to get a copy of 1.1 cluster for NT and will see if this happens on
this
version as well, please respond to EMAIL as this is a time critical problem
thanks...Jim

Try this and let me know if it works. change the name of the
VXD DCLNAMEM file. I am not sure what the extension is probably
.dll. Then install the Win95 client from the V1.1 top level setup.exe.

Re-boot the client and try to reproduce the problem.

If it doesn't work please reply and I will enter a bug report.

Definitely make sure you use the v1.1 setup - it will be the same win95
client as what is called the v1.0 sp2 client. Unfortunately setup from
the v1.0 sp2 kit doesn't install the win95 client. You have to run a
.bat file (detailed in the release notes).

715.3banyan client 1.1 updateNETRIX::"petersonji@mail.dec.com"Jim PetersonWed Apr 02 1997 15:138
I have installed the latest 1.1 client as well with the same error. The
Banyan program NEWREV when run performs an automatic update to the banyan
network client software, this is when the exception error occurs on our DLL.
If you could confirm this and help to escalate this would be great, our
customer is DND and we are currently in the process of escalation, but if we
could bypass the C1 this would speed things up alot...Thanks...Jim
