673.0. "Is PATHWORKS supported for client access" by BSS::F_BLANDO (Je suis grand, beau, et fort!) Wed Mar 05 1997 14:35

A customer of mine has an NT cluster. His clients are WFW 3.11, so they should
be supported. However, he does not use the microsoft supplied networking in
WFW, rather they have PATHWORKS installed, and use TCP/IP and DECnet.

Is this configuration supported as a clients. Reading 288.7 would tend to
imply that PATHWORKS networking is not supported. But WFW is supported...

At this time the client install fails because it cannot find VREDIR.386

Which makes a lot of sense since the PATHWORKS version you seem to talk about
only uses DOS mode networking modules.
The redirector gets already loaded before entering WfW.
And the NT Cluster hooks into the WfW Redirector. (Which is in this customers
	case not used).

In PATHWORKS v5/v6 can configure it like that the you do use the real mode stacks
like DECnet, but ride the Protected Mode redirector on top of it.
(Which "could" be enough for NT Cluster to be satisfied)
	Still not supported though.
The only OSes and NOSes and protocol stacks supported are the ones mentioned in the
	User/Installation Guides.
Being: NetBEUI, TCP/IP, NWLink, Win95, WfW and Windows NT: all versions from Microsoft.
